It's good to see Alex defeat Sonic... although Phantasy Star should have been #1 . Thanks for the fun polls batman and meu2... great job.

I just tried that on a NTSC system with a few different Woody Pop dumps and it sort of works. The game loads just fine but woody himself is glitchy to the point of making it unplayable.

I saw on of those "software" boxes in a master system auction not too long ago. I think it's just a generic box or possibly a rental. It would be strange for Sega to have special packaging for demo carts. Also, Zaxxon 3D was never a kiosk cart:

Anybody got a guide for this dude? Miki (no relation) will give you poison cheese if you answer her Sega question correctly. I can't believe Phantasy Star is losing. It's one of the few master system games that nintendo had absolutely no answer for. It was a genre defining game no matter whether you live in PAL or NTSC land. Castle of Illusion is a great platformer but Phantasy Star was THE rpg of the 8bit era. I think that Playgen's regional nostalgia hypothesis does a great job of explaining why Mickey is beating Alis.

I opened up the Night Trap instruction manual to find to my surprise the early release blue manual for Transbot. I'm glad that you like it! I was going to wrap it separately but I though that it'd be a nice master system surprise after you thought you were only getting 32x stuff. In hindsight, I probably should have left some clue so that you didn't have to wait another three days to find it . The bunny rabbit Professor Playor is my favorite part too. The Penguins are the worst. I couldn't agree more ;D. Go Capitals!

Cheers buddy! It's safe to open it. The games are individually wrapped and are surrounded by lot's of bubble wrap.

I think batmansatan has a decent idea. It's a fairly arbitrary solution but I propose: Deathmatch: 24 hour poll - winner takes all.
Otherwise I agree with Ian and Tears.

Open boxes, give ribbons. Her thoughts exactly . She now has one ribbon. I must have my dates confused, didn't think it was Christmas yet At this very moment 25 years ago I was playing the master system for the first time. I had been lobbying for a master system for at least three months by that time and my parents finally got sick of me saying "can I have a master system?" so they let me open it on the last day of school. Don't worry, I'll save a game or two for the 25th. Actually, I think I'll open one a day until xmas... one tonight and then one per day starting Thursday. It'll be the five days of Sega Christmas . Btw, wasn't there something else in the box? Yes! It was lost in the styrofoam peanuts. Nice. Thanks again Alan! edit: that hidden goody makes it "the 6 days of Sega Christmas" I'll throw the first pic up tomorrow. I'll try to include the cat too, but she has her own agenda so no promises.

These games aren't platformers or shmups but they're still worth checking out:
Pirates! Gold Shining Force
Pirates! is always good fun (probably my favorite Genny game) and Shining Force is one of the best tactical RPG's ever.

Meu2 went above and beyond with the packaging... wrapping both the outer box and each individual game: I had to put the games on a high shelf because my cat wouldn't stop attacking the ribbons: My fingers are crossed that one of them is Sagaia. I'm going to open a few tonight .
