Could buy a Master of Darkness classic for 40 €. Worth it? I've been looking for one for a while but have only come across one copy from somewhere in Europe (I can't remember exactly) which went for £25 but the condition was fairly poor so if it's in good nik I'd go for it (Or tell me who's selling it and I'll buy it, lol)

You lucky a child conceived out of wedlock! It can easily sell for $300+ here in the U.S.. Not sure about £300 though. A lot of U.S. collectors would bend over backwards to have that. Many are not willing to search outside of the U.S. for it. I guess we Americans are skeptical about shipping or dealing with people outside the country. I have two with UPC stickers. One I came across in a bundle with no mention of the UPC and the other I bought in an auction from the U.K.. Only bought the second one with intention of reselling here in the U.S. at a profit. Still haven't gotten around to it though. Congrats! Thanks! I thought it would only be worth about £25 here in the UK. It sounds like it would be a good item for trade to somebody in the US.

I recently purchased an ebay lot of 3 games consisting of Ms Pac Man (Pal), Sonic and Mickey Mouse Castle of Illusion (NTSC) as I wanted Mickey Mouse Castle of Illusion for my NTSC collection. Anyway I was happy to pay £6 for Castle of Illusion, £2.50 for Ms Pac Man and £1 for Sonic as it has a good box (The auction ended at the start bid of £9.50) Do you think I got a good deal? I paid £90 for a mint CIB copy from a fellow forum member about 6 months ago and I've managed to bag a few hard to get games at descent prices this way so maybe this is the way to go? As well as keeping an eye on the Auction thread you could try posting an advert in the Items Wanted Thread. With regards to buying complete or incomplete I'd urge you to go for a complete copy as one day you will have a complete collection and you will want it to be as complete as possible (With all the posters, manuals, guide books etc...) It's scary how much prices have increased over the last couple of years but now is the time to buy. More and More people are collecting for the SMS now and there (Sega) not making anymore so prices are only going one way.

These 2 beauties arrived in the post today. Chuffed to bits with the Gift Set which takes pride of place in my collection Beautiful setup you have there. Curious how/why you chose the games hanging in between the shelves? Are they some of your favorites? Congrats! Cheers! I'd be hard pressed to choose my top 10 games for the SMS, there's just so many. These are just duplicates (I've had to buy quite a few to replace bad boxes in my main collection) so I put them to good use by decorating my man cave with them, lol

These 2 beauties arrived in the post today. Chuffed to bits with the Gift Set which takes pride of place in my collection wow, just wow. Are you going for the full pal and ntsc set? noticed some really cool stuff like all the lion king variants, portugese stuff and also smurfs 2 (dread to think how much that is going for these days) Yeah, I've got a complete Pal set and have turned my addiction / attention towards a complete NTSC set as well as variants and other region exclusives. The SMS is a fantastic console to collect for as even when you have completed it there is just so many other things to collect and keep you interested such as game variants, region variants, language variants. consoles, double packs, gift sets etc... I'll never get bored off the SMS!

The manual is from the 'Blue' mail order version of power strike that has been put in an EU region box

Just came across this post from Ninjabearhug back in August of 2013 "Mega games 1 came packaged with the original manuals on pack ins and fold out regional black and white manuals for the retail copies, the case doesn't close very well with all 3 original manuals ." Which makes total sense for Master games 1 but still leaves questions about Tom and Jerry. With regards to a definitive list of games with fold out / black and white manuals, in addition to research it might be best also to ask the people who know their stuff so I'll start a new thread and update THE LIST once photographic proof is obtained. I'm also checking out a theory that a distributor bought stock from a third party rather than directly from Sega and printed their own region specific manuals (I think Ariolosoft did something similar, importing games from the US and printing their own low quality German black and white manuals)

Yes, I have the Sonic Pack-in manual too and in comparison the paper (slightly glossy) and style is identical. With regards to these being ex-rental manuals, I can't really see it. They are in too good a condition. I remember renting SMS games back in the day, the cart and manuals were always in a poor state and assuming that the cart is original to the instructions there is none of the usual identifying marks or sticker residue. The instructions are in English only so were obviously meant for an English territory. The games (Tom and Jerry and Master Games 1) were never released in North America / Canada which just leaves the UK and Australia and as the manuals are produced in a style known to be common to Australia then maybe they were printed there? That being said, Master Games 1 was never released in Australia so that theory doesn't really hold either!

I know what you mean about a lot of the Australian manuals being of the fold out type (This was my first thought too) but as you can see from the attached image of an Australian manual there are big differences such as the colour, the letters MS after the Sega Logo and to my limited knowledge most manuals / carts / boxes say made / printed in Australia (On the back of manuals under / next to the Sega Logo)It's interesting that other games not known to be pack-in with consoles seem to have this variant with the manuals such as Master Games 1. I will definitely be keeping an eye out for more from now on. Attachments:

I don't know if anyone got to the bottom of this (Looks like a really old thread) but I came across a black and white instruction manual for Tom & Jerry (Genuine) It's a double sided A4 size pull-out manual very similar to the pack-in instructions for Sonic The Hedgehog. Assuming that this is a pack-in game for the SMSII, can anyone confirm that they have a console with this as a pack in game? I tried looking on Sega retro but couldn't find one. Attachments:

Sega sure liked to be different! I'm pretty sure I've mistaken China for Japan and written it down wrong. I'll double check and respond if I didn't. Thanks for all the info

Thanks for that! It raises more questions than answers though. Looking at your scan, the Thailand instruction manual is the lighter of the 2 black manuals but I already have the light black manual which says Printed In Hong Kong with the numbers 672-1070 underneath. I've uploaded a couple of pictures to show this. I wonder if this is yet another variant?
