Looks like the US manual, so probably put in as a replacement for the original to make it complete. Doubtful it started life like that.

I also think it's a replacement.

That one is more like the portuguese-only ones (that'd also include the typical multi-lang horizontal oriented manual), albeit the manual on the 1st post is more like the "full-colored" ones, with a glossy silky cover/back.
+1 for a replacement.

So here is another EU Power Strike box with a US manual (confirmed this time by more photos). It looks to me like it may have originally been sold this way sometimes. rupert - I know you have a few EU variations of this game - do any of them have the US manual?

I wonder if the U.S. didn't "sell" the amount of mail in versions they expected and just shipped their excess inventory to the U.K. to be repackaged with the Euro style cover. As far as I know the game was only available as a mail in promotion here in the U.S. and not available to be purchased in stores. Is that correct?

I have 3 euro Power Strikes in my collection (Now there are no limits, ® and no ®). However only 1 is complete with manual. Meanwhile my US Power Strike has 2 manuals in the box.. Its likely 1 of those came in a euro box and I moved it. Unfortunately its too long ago for me to remeber but it's my best guess considering this thread.

That's correct, although I seem to remember hearing anecdotally that copies of the US version could be found in stores in the UK. This is not impossible, given that the game appears reasonably frequently on eBay UK.

That makes sense seeing as Castle of Illusion, Super Monaco GP, and other late releases made their way to the U.K., France, Belgium, and maybe a few other countries for sale. Anytime you see games in the U.S. sold with the UPC code cut out you can be sure it was done in order to get Power Strike or some other promotion Sega of America/Tonka had going at that time.

The Toys R Us I bought Power Strike from used the US cover for display purposes so US copies in the UK would not seem out of the question. You also have the families of US service personnel who may have brought US games in and sold them on - couple of airbases near me when I was a kid.
However I doubt the recent auctions are anything more than people who picked up loose manuals in the past to complete the article. It's also possible it's the same copy being passed around I guess?

See I find it unlikely that anyone comes across loose/spare manuals. I find it much more likely to come across boxed games without manuals. The same copy being passed around theory is certainly plausable though.
