I've recently tried a SMS on my livingroom flatscreen TV again with a new scart cable, its not a bad picture, but not perfect either so I'll be sticking to CRT for the most part. I have two CRT's in my 'games room' a pretty big Goodmans cheap one, and a 21" (I think) Sony Trinitron which I picked up last year for about £20 and that has a really great picture. Its a bit of a squeeze having them both in there but it means I can have more consoles set up and ready to play at once.
I also still have my original 14" portable TV that only has RF input, I haven't had the heart to get rid of it and I suppose its still good for old Atari machines and such.

:-) Got home before midnight, fuelled by KFC and chocolate. Happy with my 3rd place, mostly down to lucky favorable conditions for arrow throwing I expect. Enjoyed the day, thanks for organising, bringing the consoles and TV's and of course yourselves!

Are we still only on 2 TVs at the moment?! Only a week left now. I have a CRT I could bring if it's still working, it has spent the last 12 months in a slightly damp garage. My other problem is I'm sort of between cars at the moment - I'll either have no car next weekend or a choice of two depending on how things work out with getting my new one. I can offer transport assistance again if you like.

Very nice video, it was really good to see how the basic game play evolved. Good job, keep those videos coming.

Thanks dude, if they happen to have something gaming related that would be cool. But don't worry about it if not, I can order one online quite cheap and have it inscribed and such.

Has the console only just started having this fault and worked fine before? Using a scart cable? You only need to remove about 6 screws to open the console to have a look inside, it might be something obvious and easily repairable with a soldering iron.

I thought it might be nice to have a new special 2016 trophy, I'll get one sorted.
(obviously this has nothing to do with me wanting to keep the only trophy I have ever won for anything...)

Welcome, nice to see someone joining in from a different part of the world. You started off with two of the best games then!

If your going to replace the staples I would swap one at a time, leaving one in while replacing the other so the manual doesn't fall apart. I'd remove them by hand unbending them, and put a new staple in and also fold it by hand using the original holes.

Poor design and construction, I wish they had released the paddle control rather than this travesty... Good point, a bundle of the paddle controller with Alex Kidd BMX Trial would probably have sold quite well I bet. Especially if they reworked the game a bit to improve it, even as it is the game would have better release than High Tech World.

A HDMI equipped console would be a nice additional system that I could use on my big modern TV. If it had a cartridge slot or could play rom images then it would be a must have - and would probably replace a lot if not most of the console sales on ebay. I'd say there's a market for a console you don't need a CRT TV to get the best picture from. The SMS looks like crap on my Sony flat screen. I've been tempted to buy a RetroRon 5 console recently.
