Cool room, looks like a nice place to chill out and play. Is that weird shape TV a CRT one?

SMS1 is easy to mod, its as simply cutting through a trace and soldering three solder pads on the board to a switch. I've done it quite a few times now. Had a quick look and this is a good guide: www.mmmonkey.co.uk/download/sega-master-system-1-5060hz-mod-four-x/I wouldn't worry about getting different colour wires though, bit pointless. Many games do still play better in 50hz in my opinion, and some have a lot of graphical errors and such in 60hz speed. Its really good to have the option though and well worth doing the mod.

It will be fine, I did the same myself. I can't remember where I got it now, but I bought a loose US system for my collection and just use a Euro power supply. I use the same 1 or 2 power supplies for all my SMS consoles, including those from Brazil and Japan too.
If you just want to play games in 60hz speed, its easy enough to mod a Euro console to do it, the SMSII is a bit tricky but the original SMS1 is quite simple.

I voted to stay in because I don't think the country was doing that bad as part of the EU, and leaving it isn't a simple process that's guaranteed to get what leave voters wanted.

What would i be looking for with the differences as i would have no idea.As i have sold a lot of sega stuff latley i may concider selling this one on to a colector, but i would have to do some more research on what it would be worth as its hard to put a price on it. If you do open it up, take a photo and post it up. If its a pre-production version it will probably be on an eprom (a chip with a window on top, which may well be covered with a sticker). The rest of the board may be different to normal releases too.

Probably worth checking if you can actually play PAL UK region DVD's first. Your experience with Amazon can vary a lot depending on if you're actually buying from them or an independant seller on an amazon listing. Amazon themselves use minimal packaging, but tend to be good if you have any issues.

Cool find. You could open it up and see if its a normal production board/rom or not.

Don't tell me Dead Angle is even harder to find than Buster Douglas, noooo!
I think you'll have to choose your own prices, I've not paid attention for long enough on values that I don't know what to offer.
Thanks :-)

It's been a few years now since I bought anything SMS related, or really any gaming stuff. Now all my money is my own again, I fancy finishing off the (rather pointless, but why not) US set if I can. I guess some games are probably worth more than I want to spend these days, one obvious boxing game in particular, but it would be nice to try and get a few of them. I'd only want them complete with manual and in nice condition. I might have some a few bits to trade, will have to look. Anyway, here is what I'm still missing:
Alex Kidd in Miracle World California Games Dead Angle Great Volleyball James “Buster” Douglas Knockout Boxing My Hero R.C. Grand Prix Shooting Gallery Slap Shot Space Harrier 3D Wonderboy Wonderboy II Y's Zillion II

Don't think I can do July 9th or August 6th, but any other date should be fine for me.

It would have been nice to have the choice, if they made a European system with FM and you could easily mod it to switch between FM and PSG like you can with 50 and 60hz. Although I guess if we did have FM then no games would have used PSG after a point.
I do like some FM music, but often I prefer PSG. It might be a case of liking what I'm used to, to a certain extent. I don't find the PSG music that bad anyway, I know it gets a lot of internet hate now, but at the time it was plenty good enough, and I still appreciate its simple charms. I do wonder if people just complain to use it as a way to put down the Master System as it surpasses the Nes visually (and as far as I'm concerned with game-play fun too).

For me its the sort of variant I wouldn't want to pay too much for, but would hope to find hidden somewhere. In the past I paid quite a lot for a complete Hang On card version and Classic Robocop Vs Terminator etc, but those big money spending days are behind me now. I've also managed to find the misprints of Cloud Master and Wanted cheaply by just being really observant looking through auctions and spotting them myself. Its that latter mindset I would follow with this Sonic 2 variant, I'd prefer to find it one day just normally priced.
As for which ebay selling format is best, well there are positives and negatives for both and its a gamble you have to take. A fixed price auction can get the price you want, but may take a long time to sell or not attract much interest at all. A 99p start can cause an over excited bidding frenzy and end up fetching more money than you'd expected, or just end for 99p.
I agree that ebay is boring to look through now and I rarely bother since its full of all the over priced buyitnow listings, with everyone thinking common games are a rarity.
Anyway whatever you do with it, its a really nice find.
