Hi! I'm Miki! Do you like SEGA games?
"Yes"
Of course! SEGA games are the best!
You guys make it that far yet? I got a pretty good kick out of that. There's probably a new thread to be had for that, listing all the SMS games where SEGA breaks the fourth wall to give themselves accolades. They do it in Alex Kidd: High-Tech World all the time.

I'm getting pretty far here, only a few more things to achieve before I finish it off. It's nice having those Laconian weapons - they really make battles breeze by, and the custom animation and sound for each strike is pretty empowering.
Has anyone ever used the "Talk" feature during battle? I never want to waste a turn, but I'm wondering if there is any significance to that, or if it's more dead space like the "Search" function.

You can use the talk feature on the Motavian farmers. I think it works on the Barbarians as well. They'll say something and you won't have to fight. I'm making the rounds on that icy planet before I take Lassic one on one, so I should be done in another sitting with any luck. Great gaming - I wish the people would say more than single sentence hints or exposition, but hey, there are enough of them around that it's still a lot to take in. Also, I was a little disappointed that fire attacks didn't have greater impact on any of the frozen creatures on the planet. I guess Phantasy Star can't pioneer everything, right?

Phew, you must be making some sick headway! I haven't had time to play this week, was planning to get a big chunk out of it this weekend, maybe even finish it.

Fought Lassic today...and got OWNED. I've found the game to be relatively easy throughout, but man, that last trek to Lassic is an epic journey topped off by an amazingly powerful boss. I was leveled up to 22 and had almost all the top equipment (my armor for Alis and Noah was lacking, though) and I didn't even knock him down 40 hit points before he annihilated my crew. I went back and built up my levels more and made sure all the equipment was totally tops. So tomorrow, Lassic, you're mine.

Today was the day I took Lassic down. The game has a fine finish, I really like how Lassic talks down to you a bit before you get into the fight. Once you have all the good equipment he's easy, I couldn't believe how much a couple upgraded shields did to my whole attack.
SPOILERS
I like how the game doesn't just end once you kill off the final boss. There is still another surprise dungeon just when you think you're going to go and claim the throne. The final boss is a beast, and it adds to the suspense by not having any life meter visible. Story-wise, though, I'm not sure it entirely makes sense - since once you defeat Lassic shouldn't the galaxy be restored to what it once was? The quip from the governor "Oh, I must have been possessed!" or something like that is also pretty lame. The ending is nice though, I like how they give you the chance to choose whether or not you will take the throne. I finished it twice just to see if the options mattered, and they don't other than the governor's immediate response. Still, a cool fact - if Alis dies during the final battle and you defeat Darkfalz, then there will be an added message from her brother basically saying that she's got the strength, at which point he resurrects you. Nice touch!
END SPOILERS
Overall, a phantastic game; I'm glad to finally be able to say I've completed it after all these years of it sitting imposingly in my collection. Thanks for making this the game club pick, I don't think I ever would have finished it this quickly had it not been recommended and had you guys not been here posting and adding to the intrigue.

Just sitting down to play some more! Any tips on Lassic (didn't read the spoilers)? You need to find the crystal in that Baya tower if you even want to stand a chance, since otherwise his attacks will be so powerful you'll die with a single hit. Also, above all you need to make sure all your characters have the best armor and shielding. The final essential is to get Odin the laser gun, because regular attacks often miss on Lassic, so that's the only way to guarantee your hits will always do damage. I had Noah using his thunder spell throughout (you should get about 3-4 rounds of it before your MP runs out), Alis using her fire attack and Myau using Help on Odin for the first round and then healing everyone else for the remainder. Do it that way and you should be good to go!

Man, you must have really sat down to play this! I've only just got through Gothic and got the Heat Gun and such, I have to have at least three hours of steady play before I even get close to Medusa's Tower.

man, after trying for weeks to resist, I couldn't anymore... I plugged in my master system, put the cartidge in it and go on ! Got myau so far (didn't play that much) and already one question: what on earth would happen if you bought myau for one million mesetas ? I mean, I'd like to try but didn't find no action replay code to get loans of cash

That would be awesome, though. Nice to see another person playing. I played the game with a walkthrough handy, but generally tried to do things on my own - I just used it for general direction when it came to acquiring new items and characters, etc. Sometimes I wonder the kind of hours you'd put into this game if there wasn't a guide, since many things seem to really have a random way of occurring. Like in building the robot out of all those scrapheaps.

As far as I can remember from the very first time I played the game ten years ago, it was trully a pain in the ass to go through the dungeons withouth a faq. But the story itself isn't that hard, you get enough information here and there to complete it rather easily (well, if you write them down to avoid turning around and around to find something you were actually told where to look for) Only real counterpart for me is the levelling. You need to do hours of it even before starting to play which is quite disappointing if you're not used to hardcore RPGs (which was my case ten years ago lol)
PS: picked up odin ten minutes ago ;D

I got my guys up to about a level six or seven and then just went on with the story. That should be all you need. Oh, I definitely used the diagrams on gamefaqs.com for the dungeons - there is no way I'd guess my way through those. A nice thing, though, is that the mint CIB Phantasy Star that I have came with about 20 pages of graph paper that someone had extensively filled out to complete the game. I love getting things like that with the games, it adds a level of personality to it all.

It's easy to know where the robot is, I figured it out even without using my German guide. The house was marked off by having a blue door. Well, finally got through go getting the spacecraft after Gothic. That maze run followed by the lava is REALLY annoying. I got so sick of enemy attacks. Seriously, though, you must have been playing this for hours straight, it took me about four hours of play on Saturday to finish Gothic.
