Yeah, that was a problem I had with it as well. However, it didn't really bother me or anything. It was only partially annoying from time to time. That's the point of the various guns you get. The needlegun (and others) do consistent damage to EVERY enemy, regardless of how many of them you face.

Hey, that's great. I'll definitely go get the needle gun now. Even if you can't pick where your attack will hit, at least they partially addressed that fact with guns that hit everyone. Cool, thanks for the tips my friends.

The database here lists this interesting fact:
Can someone please elaborate on that? What are the differences, and what way do we have of telling which version is different?

Not sure; perhaps they got Noah's gender right in the 2nd version? ;D The database here lists this interesting fact: Can someone please elaborate on that? What are the differences, and what way do we have of telling which version is different?

I thought of one good bonus to not selecting enemies to attack, no wasted attacks. I hate that in games like Breath of Fire. So it's not all that bad. Level raising seems very fluid in Phantasy Star. I'm already quite a beast and I've only just found Noah. By the way, in that labyrinth, on the second level, once you come out of the first hallway, if you turn right, go a few steps and stop two steps before the turn at the end, turn right and go through the wall. You'll find a secret level! I didn't have enough energy to go through all of it after finding Noah, but inside I found around the first bend $2000! Mightly helpful for me getting that diamond armor.

Interesting. Are there any specific points in the game where we can test this anomaly for certain? I've got a few copies spare, I'd love to be able to have one of each.

Okay, I'm getting pretty far in this game, but I have to say...what the hell is with the "Search" function? I'm getting pretty sick of reading "There doesn't seem to be anything special about it." Really, it's a pretty redundant waste of space. I finally got to a part where one of the townsfolk was like "hidden in some of the rubble is the robot you need". So I thought, "Finally, a time to use that damned search function." So I went to every room to search the rubble for the robot, and every single time..."There doesn't seem to be anything special about it." Use it or lose it, Sega!
Right now the toughest part for me is trying to drag Noah along with all my uber leveled up guys. All my other guys have a Max HP of over 120, and here Noah sits at a paltry 45. Makes it pretty tedious having to heal him every time we run into a sizable battle. He's getting strong though, the little fella.

He levels up pretty quick. When I was leaving the labyrinth he leveled about 5 times in there. Couple fishmen battles and you're good to go, I'd say level him unti he has at least Exit and that should be fine. I'm moving on to the next town with the doctor and shite now.

There's one or two hidden items in the game that conversations will reveal the location of (this is when you'd use "search"). Other than that, it's a waste of time. How long does it take to get Exit? I keep reading this in guides, but none of my characters have it yet, and my guys are pretty stacked. Like level 19 across the board. The last couple times, actually, it's said that a band member learned a new spell, but when I go to check what it was, no new ones show up. Am I missing something?

Myau should have it at level 17 and Noah at level 6. Check your statistics from the menu; the spell won't show up if you're looking at the magic menu out of a dungeon. He levels up pretty quick. It's kind of weird how some members like Noah only have context specific spells. For example, Noah has the "Cure" ability, but can only use it outside of a match. Inside the match, at this point, he only has "Fire" and "Teleport". It just makes things a little more troublesome not having that extra guy who can cure, especially with all the MP Noah has.

Yeah, I noticed the magic user feature is a little oddly balanced. Typically, you'd want a mixture character (okay, Alis, got that), a healer and an attacker. They seem to throw the spells all over the place.
