Kind of a shame but at the moment i'm really liking NBA 2K15 (awesome career mode) and play Serious Sam with friends in coop, well it's old so it could be called Retro by now

Yeah, I'm too busy getting angry with FIFA (difficulty setting goes from "walking the ball in the net" to "superhuman lightning fast defenders pinching the ball every time you get near the box") to play much retro recently, unless you count the X-Wing & TIE Fighter releases from GOG.

Will probably sound crazy, but can't remember if I've played anything since playing Bill's Tomato Game which was over two weeks ago. If Wordfeud on my android counts then that Been occupied trying to catch up to my goal of books read this year and watching way to much wrestling (I think it adds up to about 20 hours this past week).

On average, I have two consoles on my coffee table at any given time (one on the top, the other on the lower shelf) and, at the moment, it's the PS1 and the Sega Saturn. Before long, I'm probably going to replace the PS1 with the Atari VCS and the Saturn will probably make way for the NES and, after a while, I'll probably swap the VCS for the SNES. I have pretty much every console/home computer in the mainstream market and I generally play on them for 2-4 weeks before I swap them for another system.
In addition to retro consoles, I also play games on PC/Steam but I use a Linux OS so I'm limited to what's been ported over and what I can get to work through Wine.

Well, I haven't played that much console recently, but had a little project going where I've been assembling a Retro PC from different parts I've gotten for free or bought for a dollar or two. It's a tower PC with an old ASUS TX97-X mainboard, where I've been upgrading the included amd k6 200 mhz cpu to a k6-2 400 mhz cpu, which was pretty much the same processor I had back in the late 90's. I've been playing some old PC adventure games on it, like Day of the Tentacle, Sanitarium and Darkseed. I've also been playing some of the old shooters like Doom, Hexen, Duke Nukem 3D, Blood and Strife. Next I'm thinking of getting my hands on an old 3Dfx Voodoo 2 graphics card, which I also had back then, and a fitting pass through cable. Else than that I've gotten a new TV table which finally holds the 3-4 consoles I wanted to have under my TV I've also put in my modded original xbox which I use to emulate different consoles, like the SMS, Megadrive, NES, SNES, Arcade etc. if I am too lazy to hook up the original - but I do very much prefer to play on the original console, although the first Xbox, if modded, has some great emulators available that work very well.

I have to dust this topic off to give a recommendation. At the moment i'm mainly playing two really great games: The first one is "This War of Mine", a Survival Game set in the War (it's inspired from the Yugoslavian War and especially the Siege of Sarajevo). You start out with 3 Survivors in a run-down building and have to survive until the war ends: Collect scraps and food, go on Scavenge hunts in the neighbourhood, build stuff that helps you survive. The characters all have unique traits and features and morale. If you go around killing people to loot them, it will leave to a low morale and if you continue, the people might even consider suicide since it's all so bleak to them. The atmosphere is really great. The other is Freedom Planet a throwback Plattformer that started out as a Sonic Fangame but was then turned into it's own project. You can still tell that Sonic from the Mega Drive Era was a huge influence, though they also threw in some stuff from other classic Plattformers. The graphics are good, the music is great, the voice acting is cheesy and fun and in classic Alex Kidd style, one character can use a Motorcycle. I can only recommend that game to everybody who loves Sonic or classic Jump n' Runs in general

I've been playing DeathSmiles on the Xbox 360 recently (I received it for Xmas). It's an awesome shmup game and pretty addictive.

I've been playing DeathSmiles on the Xbox 360 recently (I received it for Xmas). It's an awesome shmup game and pretty addictive. The art style really puts me off this one, is it particularly noticeable in-game? I have pretty much all the other classic-styled shmups on the 360 (that'll play on a PAL machine anyway) but I'm not especially comfortable with the loli stuff Japan often comes out with.

In-game it isn't noticable at all. The levels have a medieval/fantasy feel to them. Definitely give it a go. I also picked up Akai Katana but haven't tried it yet. I'm getting quite into my shmups at the moment. Are there any others you'd recommend?

They're both on Steam. TWOM is available on Windows, Mac and Linux. FP Windows only. Yeah they're PC only Since they both done by small companies. Freedom Planet is one sale at the moment for 7,49€ and This War of Mine for 16,14€ I guess This War of Mine has good chances to be ported to consoles since the developers, 11 Bit Studios have released some of their previous games on consoles (Anomaly Warzone Earth and Anomaly 2) and This War of Mine has a retail publisher in the form of Deep Silver who are active on the console scene. I doubt that Freedom Planet will make it on consoles though, since it was made by a 1 guy company who sought help from people on DeviantArt and other creative websites and despite a successful Kickstarter campaign had to go through Steam Greenlight first. Freedom Planet has really low requirements: It even runs on Windows XP, 1 GB Ram, a 2 GHz Dual-Core is needed (i guess it runs on an 3GHz Single Core too), DirectX 9.0 and about 500 Megabytes on the HDD. Any PC from the past 7-8 years should be able to run the game (also Linux or OSX from the same timeframe) On another note i also bought Shantae: Risky's Revenge - Director's Cut on Steam. It's a Sequel to Shantae (probably THE showcase game on the Game Boy Color) that was originally released on the DS and it's another classic platformer with a lot of fun elements. I enjoy it a lot, it has a lot of cheesy humour and characters, fluid gameplay, good music. It's also available on iOS though i don't know if that's the Director's Cut or the original version.
