A 3d printer will make them. Economics of doing so....possibly a different conversation

I don't see why you have to keep singling marc out? I was under the impression we were adults. Or is it your belief that you can bully people that have been on the site less time than you have?
Funny how its the norm to call people out for making repros but not the norm to call out people for bullying other site members?
Not the first time we have had 'selective' moderation on this site though

Not the first time we have had 'selective' moderation on this site though As others have said, it's not making repros that is the problem, but trying to trick unsuspecting collectors. I'm really not bothered by prototypes/hacks/GG conversions/fan translations etc., but I find auctions like this to be deceitful, dishonest and damaging to the collecting community. I'm glad to see that all such auctions have now been ended and the remaining auctions are far clearer. As for the "bullying" comments: I intentionally didn't post any links or mention any names to allow that person the opportunity to come along and post their side of the story (which they have done). At no point have I made any kind of personal attack, nor encouraged others to do so. I have no moderator powers (and would not have exercised them even if I had), nor have I attempted to influence moderators to take any decisions - not that I would expect to have any influence anyway. All I have done is expressed my disappointment. But I stand by my decision to point out that the game mentioned in the first post of this thread was sold by a forum member, as I think it's relevant. Others may disagree - after all, this is the internet.

Others may disagree - after all, this is the internet. You say you haven't made personal attacks and then make a personal attack based on marc's listing. I have stated previously that i offered to make a website for marc and would charge for this, was i guilty by association? I know what you are trying to do, you think someone with less knowledge than us will know or care what for example smurfs 2 is, heres a reality check- they neither know nor care. Retro games do have counterfits- this is not a dishonestly sold one. The master system is now more popular because the mega drive full set prices went silly, you have benefited from buying things and the value going up, so have i.

My auctions, what people buy and what they do with them AFTER they have bought them,if they choose to RESELL its upto them they wouldnt make much because they are obviously fake. Like i said only a complete and utter idiot could confuse the games for being real.. that seller as already been reported for using my other auction pictures.. he thought he could make money and hasnt

I think barney did the correct way, by expressing his concerns of somebody trying to pass off some rare games as originals. He didn't say who was, then marc came and pointed out himself.
The problem wasn't his repros, but his confusing/misleading description. He should be much more clear, I think everyone agrees on that. And marc is familiar with SMS, so looks like it was a deliberate tactic to get high bids. I think almost everybody here don't like/hate this kind of tactics, especially on something we really care about.

I'm sorry Nick but did barney do the correct way when he accused Marc of being a conman? It seems odd that we are less than willing to call out when people are trying to rip off new collectors (I have seen prices at events that would make people want to give up master system collecting), example, a friend of mine is going for a master system full set, before Marc sold his smurfs 2 original he asked how much it goes for, I told him honestly the last copy I saw in the flesh was £495 (nearly 700 euros)
That is what is concerning, not someone bending the truth to get round ebay rules which is exactly what happens when people sell broken consoles and call them 'untested' or sell 'dual sim iphones' when as a former iphone specialist for a very well regarded company I can verify no such thing exists.
I noticed we never showed the link to Marc's website, the one I offered to redesign for a fee, I have been through every letter of text with a fine tooth comb as I gave him a quote to redesign it.
I think you have seen a very one sided argument on here and hopefully you will read my 'concerns' thread as a lot more has gone on that has not been said on here

I'm not going to comment on the earlier personal discussion, nor judge about if intentions have been good or bad, but after reading a few of the previous posts I cant help but be surprised about the different inputs I got regarding selling choices, in particular when it comes to reproduction material.
Unless I'm completely missing something here I must say that I can't understand why people would even consider selling reproduction carts on eBay. Its a direct violation of eBay's policy, and seemingly the only reason that these articles exist on eBay is because eBay simply does not care, as long as there are no transactional problems (after all, they get a good percentage everytime a sale is made)
As a seller you would have to make damn sure that people wont EVER believe that your games are original, and even if you do make it crystal clear in your description, I see no reason why you wouldn't lose every single case opened against you from buyers claiming that you sold them a counterfeit product. As I see it, Ebay would have no choice but to adhere to their policy regardless of what arguments you make, leaving you as a seller without money, game and possibly with an account suspension in the end.
Just to be clear: I have no problem with people making reproduction stuff, but personally I believe such articles would be better off being sold on dedicated sites or via forums such as this, even though you might not get the biggest market penetration (then again: aren't reproduction games largely something only enthusiasts and collectors would ever consider buying for the sake of eg. completing a set?)

I'm not going to comment on previous comments aimed at me and marc, i have said my peice here and on my thread, marc said his peice and left the site.
My opinion with ebay is as long as it gets fees it doesnt care, it sides with buyers irrespective of facts and there is acres of proof.
There has always been stacks of counterfeit material on there, i used to look for pirate dvds for fun, that was over a decade ago. Ebay forces sellers to resolve with buyers and a partial refund usually solves it, either that or trying to put a case to ebay is such a pain in the backside its not worth it. Example: Search title and description 'in 1' in consoles and games.

I sold my collection, was gutted and decided to build myself a modded collection and each game i make for myself i make an extra and sell. in it for the money, no, i enjoy doing it and i like people having games theyve alwats wanted to try. Not everyone uses emulators or can reprogram a chip and the only way they get to play these is games is by buying them off ebay. I find your claim of not doing it for the money hard to believe. If you want make mods for yourself, no problem. But why make extras if you don't plan on making money from them? Why have an account on eBay and your own site to sell them from? Why make them to order? To justify it by saying "it's the only way people can play the games" is also nonsense. There is emulation and flash carts if you just want to play the game. My auctions, what people buy and what they do with them AFTER they have bought them,if they choose to RESELL its upto them You're still the root of the issue. Producing these fakes will probably always end up in an unsuspecting collector being duped down the line. I don't see why you have to keep singling marc out? I was under the impression we were adults. Or is it your belief that you can bully people that have been on the site less time than you have? Funny how its the norm to call people out for making repros but not the norm to call out people for bullying other site members? Not the first time we have had 'selective' moderation on this site though Your accusations of bullying are pretty ridiculous. I read every post on this forum and have not seen bullying behaviour going on. Whenever there has been bullying in the past, it has been dealt with. I don't have any problems with you Andy, I know your heart is in the right place but I feel your loyalty and judge of character in this situation is misplaced.

If my loyalty has ever been misplaced i will always do the same and be man enough to apologise. I have information that marc has told me which makes my posts appear a little less 'ridiculous'
I can elaborate in a more private way if you like?
I have no problems with you either, never have, never will. The main part of my issue is certain comments made towards marc are based on half facts, have you seen the site he has? I did some provisional designs but lost them when my computer broke. His ebay listing is the worst example of how to judge his work. Its a shame i cant show you those, i have been through everything he does with a fine tooth comb.
You know me well enough to know i dont make comments like this lightly, as do a lot of you
