Excuse me digging up ancient topic. Just wanted to tell that today I perhaps first time ever played the whole game always using Obelix. I don't remember exactly if I did this before or on the other hand have I ever played some levels with Obelix. I've always preferred Asterix, feeling he's easier, more agile and faster and less likely to get hit being smaller. So while I've along years played Asterix through around twenty times, this may have been first full Obelix run.
Asterix may have been the very first game I've bought with my own money, it may be that everything before that I had my parents buy. One of the firsts anyway.
I'm generally not a friend of platformers, so this is one of my few favorites of the type. Despite the few mean bits - the moving level (2-2 is it), the flying platform/spikes thing, the sea before octopus, the first jumps of 7-3 and that damn swamp crocodile - it's overall nice and simple enough.

Funnily today i just had a urge to play it today after seeing that it finally got achievements on RALibretro and i'm still enjoying it. It's a game that really stood the test of time, with great level design and the 2 characters having different levels/sections. Still ranks as one of the few good Asterix games and it makes me wonder why so many after that failed to capture the same spirit and fun. Like the recent Asterix & Obelix XXL 3, which is just disappointing Well, except Level 2. Automatic-scrolling levels are straight from hell to torture people. rubber duck them!
