I didn't got to play Asterix when it was new but got it last year and it's one of SMS-games what have lost least magic over the years! Another game which still got all the great SMS magic is Wonderboy in Monsterland. Great pick anyway!

Excellent game. Is it really the greatest ending of any SMS game? I thought it was good, but I've seen better on the NES. Hope there's more like it. Anyway, here goes. This game is simply wonderful, my girlfriend watched me play it straight through a couple of weeks ago. Essentially you can play any level as either Asterix or Obelix. The stages will be different depending on who you pick. Obelix can break barriers while Asterix cannot. Other than that they both beat the nuts out of everything. There is somewhat of a puzzle element in some levels, and there are some trickier obstacles later on, like the one level where you have to ride on this floating log through a room of wooden spikes. The lava stage is pretty difficult too. The graphics are quite good and the music/sound is excellent. Overall it's a great game, and one you should really own. I'd say it's definitely a staple, especially if you're looking to gather a rather small PAL collection. ... well it´s my favourite ending... especially when compared with the ending in p.ex, Dragon Crystal, Shinobi, etc... (the Disney games have all good endings also!!)

It's funny to see how different the Names are from Country to Country. Here in Germany the Druid is called Miraculix and the Dog is named Idefix and i always wondered about Dogmatix, i thought thats the name of the Game with Idefix ;D The Game is really awesome and shows how great the Master System really is. The Graphic is fantastic, every Character is really nice done and the Level designs are great and there are just small Slow-Downs. The Sound is good, i must say i hate the Sound of most of the Games, but here we have some really nice tunes and the Effects are ok. For me its one of the Best Games on the Master System ever. ... i also thought that dogmatix was the name given to the bonus level ;D ;D ;D

Asterix is one of my favourite SMS games. It has everything: very good graphics, a great ending, great stages, and you can choose between Asterix and Obelix! The only downside is that is a bit long and it needs a password.

Really? I didn't think it needed one. I pretty much flew through it in about 2 hours or so.

I finished it about an hour ago, and i thought it was pretty good. It reminded me of the Mickey Mouse games, only i thought this was harder. I absolutley hated that level where you are on the platform and you control its speed and have to avoid the spikes, it took me like ten shots to get through, and there were a few other tough bits. It was overall quite a satisfying experience cause it was fairly long as far as SMS platformers go, and i'll agree that the endind was good.

Not that it is difficult, but it´s pretty long, and it usually costs about an hour and a half to get through the 21 stages

Hell yeah, especially with this game. Length didn't matter, I stuck with it because it was so awesome.

exactly, and the fact that there was such a variety in the levels helped making it that more interesting!!

Anyone know of any secrets in this game? Considering that each character can do something different, I noticed several areas where I was Asterix where I couldn't go, and likewise with Obelix.

I know a secret in the first Level with Asterix: When you go underground, go all the way to the left and jump against the Wall, you come to a secret Room with a bunch of stones, bomb them away and you get a secret Life and some other stuff.
I think in some Level you can jump up out of the Screen, to go 'over' the Level, maybe thats a way to find some secret rooms (like the warp room in Super Mario Brothers)

Well, it doesn´t matter that it´s a long game... at times. For example, Bionic Commando (on the Nes ) is one of my favourite games, but I don´t play it as many times as I want because it takes more than an hour to complete. I´d like that Asterix had a password feature, so I could turn off the system without having to start again.

It´s unbelievable how we were capable of reaching the end of a game 10/20 times. today that´s just impossible!!
