And while you're at it Bob, make sure to sticky this game of the week, the last one kept juggling through the topics.

Hi, I'm RetroBob's brother, he' sends his apologies as he's had to go into hospital (nothing serious!), and wants to pass the torch onto the next person this week.

Thanks for letting us know! Hope everything's OK.
dezanuebe - do you want to jump into the breach and have an extended week? If you're ready to pick, we could keep that one until a week on Sunday - it's probably better to have a long run rather than wait around for another 5 days.

I've been waiting to see what he's going to pick. Hope Bob gets better. I wonder what happened. That's some dedication right there if he got his brother to let us know he's not well, just to keep the game of the week going.

... i couldn´t resist , here goes: My choice is the first game I bought, ASTERIX, the game that has the best Master System ending of all times (imagine my bad luck, I figured that all the endings would last 2 minutes, how wrong I was… P.S. I hate Shinobi!!!!). I still remember the feeling of buying a game only in Christmas and for my birthday, the sensation of giving the game a first go was superb, ahh… those were the days!!! The game was released in 1991 and is the first in a trilogy released for the SMS that alongside Sonic and Mickey made quite an impression on our favourite console. I´m reviewing it because besides the sentimental value I give it, I believe that it´s a game that all of us must end at least one time. Now let me give you a review of the game: STORY/ PRESENTATION, Panoramix (Getafix to you!!) has been kidnapped by the evil empir… I mean Roman Empire, and it´s up to Asterix, Obelix and Ideafix to rescue him, can you do it??? I sure did. As you can imagine the story is quite simple, but the presentation is really cool, especially if you take in consideration that we´re talking of an 8 bits Machine!! GRADE: B GRAPHICS, They´ re pretty cool with some nice backgrounds, and that coloured look that makes the SMS one of a kind. There´s some variety either because we travel all over Europe in our journey to save the druid. My favourite levels are the 4th and 5th areas, the first by night and the second in Greece. The animations are good and there´s some variety in terms of enemies. One last note, I really dig the bees master!! GRADE: A MUSIC/SOUND, Another area were the game is at a high level, the musics are exquisite to an SMS game, please do yourself a favour and listen the music in the 4th level, it´s one of the best musics I ever heard in the SMS. As to the sound FX, it´s what you can expect from an SMS game. GRADE: B+ PLAYABILITY, As almost all great SMS plantformers, Asterix is easy to play with and presents a fair amount of challenges that will keep us interested in the game, never passing the frontier of frustration that several games cross several times (p.ex. MK 3). GRADE: A DURABILITY, 8 Rounds, 22 levels, bonus levels with our favourite canine… I guarantee this game takes time to finish and is addictive, you will want to reach the end more than 1 time to see the brilliant end, very Asterix!! GRADE: A FINAL GRADE: A P.S Please someone post the cover of the game!!

Excellent. I love this game The sega master system is home to some of the greatest platformers ever made, and don't you ever let anyone tell you otherwise. I think this sits comfortably in the sms' best six or seven, alongside Castle and Land of Illusion, Miracle World, the first two Sonics and The Lucky Dime Caper.

Excellent game. Is it really the greatest ending of any SMS game? I thought it was good, but I've seen better on the NES. Hope there's more like it. Anyway, here goes. This game is simply wonderful, my girlfriend watched me play it straight through a couple of weeks ago. Essentially you can play any level as either Asterix or Obelix. The stages will be different depending on who you pick. Obelix can break barriers while Asterix cannot. Other than that they both beat the faeces out of everything. There is somewhat of a puzzle element in some levels, and there are some trickier obstacles later on, like the one level where you have to ride on this floating log through a room of wooden spikes. The lava stage is pretty difficult too. The graphics are quite good and the music/sound is excellent. Overall it's a great game, and one you should really own. I'd say it's definitely a staple, especially if you're looking to gather a rather small PAL collection.

Nice choice, dez. Here's to a week and a half of Gallic Roman-bashing action btw, who's Ideafix? Is that the dog (aka Dogmatix to us Brits )?

I always wanted this game when i was younger, asterix was my absolute favourite comic, and when i saw the game i just creamed. But, alas, i never did get it as a child, which is sad cause i probably would have enjoyed it a hell of a lot more back then. Eitherway, I picked it up a couple of months ago, and havent played it that much, from what i saw it wasn't bad and since it's been picked and i own it i'll probably sit down and have a play.
It better have a good ending or i'm coming for you to get my time back ;D

It's funny to see how different the Names are from Country to Country. Here in Germany the Druid is called Miraculix and the Dog is named Idefix and i always wondered about Dogmatix, i thought thats the name of the Game with Idefix ;D
The Game is really awesome and shows how great the Master System really is.
The Graphic is fantastic, every Character is really nice done and the Level designs are great and there are just small Slow-Downs.
The Sound is good, i must say i hate the Sound of most of the Games, but here we have some really nice tunes and the Effects are ok.
For me its one of the Best Games on the Master System ever.
