I don't know why, but I like this thread. Here goes my story.
I was born and raised in Belgium. After 18 years of what was a very crappy childhood, apart from some rare happy memories, I went into the military here and left home for good. I didn't think that decision through too well but never regretted making it. They were the 4 best years of my life thus far and it sculpted me into the man I am today. Gained back some confident that was destroyed in the 6-7 years proceeding this period. Still not fully confident which will be a problem for quite some time still, but living my own life now together with a wonderful girlfriend.
I quit the military school for different reasons. One of them being that my girlfriend is Swedish and being in the Belgian military wouldn't have gone down too well for our relationship. First girlfriend I ever had due to previously mentioned (vague) details and instantly knew that it was for life. We've been together for almost 4 years now and since I met her, I started studying Business Management - Marketing. Close to being finished now (hopefully this Friday) and currently working at IKEA. Why IKEA? I always look for brands I have a connection with and one being my Swedish girlfriend, the other being that I just love the store and their concept. This should give us some leverage for when we make the move to Sweden indefinitely.
As for the move and the initial reason why I posted here. There have been several plans where pretty much everything was settled until Murphy came and had a rumble. We should have moved months ago but now, we're having totally different plans. She's most likely moving before me and moving in with a friend so she can start studying finally. In the meantime, I stay behind for half a year, one year max to earn some money and get some work experience. This will mean that I will have our apartment all to myself for quite some time and I will probably get it turned into one big collection room once all her stuff is out of here. Don't get me wrong, I don't look forward to living alone for that long, but better make the best of it, right?
That's about the sum up for my life.

Ah, the story behind your move to Sweden To bad that you can't go at the same time, but as you pointed out with the collection room, every cloud has a silver lining.

Yes, I'm really hoping that 2012 is going to be the year where it happens. Was close to getting an internship at Lantmännen, but stranded in the last round of applications because of a language barrier... Instead of telling me that in the beginning...

Lets see to quote Fritz the Cat "...I've been up and down the four corners of this big old world. I've seen it all and I've done it all. I've fought many a good man, and I've laid many a good woman..." But seriously though to sum up some interesting points in the timeline that is my life, let's see... Picture it,.. Kitchener, Ontario, July 1981, I'm born... 1985 My family moves to Newfoundland, Where I still reside today. This would be the beginning of my video gaming life, living in a very small town with few other kids, video games were my playmates half the time. Long and short of it, I started out on the Atari 2600 (1986), then got a Sega Master System (1990), followed by a Sega Genesis(1992), Followed by PC (1994). Plus my mom had a C64 (a luggable actually!!) since I don't know when that I used to mess around with, especially before I got my Genesis. Later in College I got a Dreamcast (2000) however this is also when I began my retro collecting. Then... 1998 I get my first 'steady' girlfriend resulting in my now having a son named Logan. Myself and the mother aren't together however Logan and I are still close, I live nearby and the mother and I are still friends. 2002 Toronto. During my vagabond years I moved a lot, before eventually returning to The Rock. During this particular Summer I was, I'm not sure how put it.. offered?.. to be a prostitute. Or 'Escort' as he put it. Still not even sure what his intentions were, to hire me out to men or women or both, didn't continue the conversation much after that. Not sure how to describe the guy, but not someone I'd want as my Pimp, but then what WOULD someone want in a pimp? Oddly, it was also the same Summer I went to audition for a porno... 2003 Suffered a crapload of arythmias or something caused by some kind of infection around my heart. One doctor claimed it was Rheumatic Fever, but at the same time said it was impossible for me to have it, and another doctor said he had no idea what was causing the infection. In any case it hasn't happened since some time in 2004. 2009 WOOT Finally made the step to having Hi-Speed internet. No Joke. Well, of my own. As I mentioned, I moved a lot, so sometimes I was lucky and was staying with people with Hi-Speed and I could leech into their internet, but otherwise on my own, I had a bunch of phone numbers for connection and had been using the same old Sympatico ID/PW since 1998. 2011 My current Fiance with whom I've been with for 7 years now found out we will be having a baby soon, gonna be a father again... Tune in next week for...

I read myself trough your posts now. ShadowAngel:That´s cool ShadowAngel. Maybe you present us your own Master System game creation one day?! Batman666:The WWE attitude era doesn´t exist anmyore. Today it´s a "entertainment" company... TNA makes mistakes, but every wrestling (or entertainment) company makes mistakes. TNA has better wrestling as WWE ever had. TNA´s problem are the booking failures. But as I said before, they produce good shows actually, especially with Bobby Roode as their champion. But if someone doesn´t like TNA, it´s ok. Because there are so many wrestling companies worldwide and I think that every fan can find what he´s looking for ShadowAngel:You´re absolutely right. I describe it sometimes as an art mixed with athleticism. They have to train so many years to be a pro and let blood and sweat back in the ring. The art I´m talking about is NOT to injure your in-ring partner. Even so they take many hard moves in the ring match after match and an injury can happen everytime. Wrestling isn´t fake - It´s a show to entertain people and most of them know it, except some wrestling marks^^ warriors33:I think you´re missing your home (Dijon?) very much, but the place you´re living now sounds very peaceful and it´s not a bad thing to live on a place like this warriors33:The SMS was my first console. I have exact the same SMS since (let me think) 18 years?? And yes it still works like your gameboy I have many games for my SNES, but I don´t collect games for it. I buy the games I want to play. I´m a SMS only collector like you. Not many games were released for this beautiful console and you can reach the goal to get them all. My wanted list isn´t too long anymore. 38 games or so. But there are still hard to get titles on my list, especially many Tec Toy exclusives. One day, I will finish my collection but I don´t have to be worry because there are some cool guys which create new games (like Digger Chan ), reproduce Game Gear games or Mark III games The SMS is still alive and this is a very special thing. Thanks to everyone who is helping that the SMS will not die PrivateJoker:wow, what a devastating story. Great that you found your dreamgirl But what will happen with your collection room if your girlfriend comes back or you will both will move together?^^ Anyway, all the best for you and your girlfriend in 2012 brian:All the best for you too. Your story is interesting. Especially the parts of 2002 and 2003. Important is that you´re ok and your fiance and baby too Sorry for this very long post.

But what will happen with your collection room if your girlfriend comes back or you will both will move together?^^[/quote] Thanks for the comment**. As for the collection room, whatever we do, wherever we go, she knows we're looking for something that has a (small) spare room for my collection. That's one of the awesome things about her, she knows what matters to me and even though she's not into gaming (retro or current gen apart from some Mario kart / Singstar / Scene it), she has kept me from selling my collection several times and knows it's something she needs to take into account **What I wrote wasn't all that devastating. I left out the parts about child abuse, bullying and the inevitable suicide attempt... Happy to say that all of that is behind me, but it has left its mark.

Wow, you went to that show? Talk about being part of wrestling history even though it scared you at that moment I'm surprised your parents let you watch wrestling again after that show. Well it was a accident, so it wasn't a problem. Besides it wasn't really bloody or extreme (Ultraviolent Wrestling these days is a lot more gory - evern see matches of the "Crazy Monkey" Jun Kasai?) My parents never had any problems with violence. We watched movies like Terminator or Aliens, i played video games with my father all the time from Golden Axe to Duke Nukem 3D. Even though i kicked his ass all the time, it was a game, i never wanted to try it out in reality. My parents, what they did, was talking, they teached me, told me the difference between fictional media and reality. I think that's what lacking today: Parents spend less and less time raising and teaching their children. Especially here in Germany were Violence is a big taboo and still a whole lot of classic action movies and video games are banned, i never understood why it is that way. By banning, you only make it more interesting. Back then when we got Duke Nukem 3D it was "Wow...that game is banned!" and every time a game magazine wrote about another game being banned, it sure enough took the Nr. 1 spot on our "To get" list Violence has always existed, it's not like Hitler or Stalin played Video games or watched Wrestling and then went crazy. The same way i can play those games, watch those movies and not being affected at all. I don't think that the world or the generation today is any more violent, than the generation before. It's just thanks to global connection, more TV stations, Twitter, Facebook and all, we get a lot more News and hear a lot more of these stories. Today it's like, when a fight in a Schoolyard breaks out it makes the headlines. 20 years ago nobody would've given a faeces about. As said, even after years and years of wrestling, action & horror movies, splatter movies, violent video games, i'm not violent myself. I don't understand the problems with violence or sex. In Europe Sex is OK but violence is a problem (and went completely overboard, i mean was there really a reason for England to go apeshit about Nunchuks and censoring the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles?) and in North America it's the exact opposite. Both things shouldn't be a taboo or demonized, they're part of our lives.

Well not much to say about myself. I have aspergers, a form of autism that affects ppl who are to smart for there own good. Plus had manic depression since i was about 5.
School never went well for me let's just say. Not had to many jobs, and any i have had have been part time. Had to quit them all cause of mental health problems.
Besides gaming, i enjoy film and going for walks. Im also a staunch supporter of the resurrection of an independent Scotland.
That's all i guess, im rather useless at describing myself lol

evern see matches of the "Crazy Monkey" Jun Kasai? Yes, Kasai is utterly mad and strange too I think that's what lacking today: Parents spend less and less time raising and teaching their children. Totally agree, personal responsibility should be promoted. The argument I always hate when hearing censorship parents is that old "Well my kids knows the difference but other kids don't so we need to ban it." Remember that freaking power rangers (of all things) got put off the air here in Sweden in the mid 90s after pressure from parents that kids emulated the show and fought each other. Yes, because kids never fight with each other and wouldn't just find something else to pretend to be while fighting with each other. As you pointed out, things that are illegal get more attention especially in that age when you are a kid or a teenager. Everything that's banned or taboo is exciting just because of that fact. And when you get older, it's not the excitement of it being taboo, but the fact that somebody else thinks they know better than you what you can or can't handle. Recommended guidelines, warnings and explanations are the way to go, not censorship. Violence has always existed, it's not like Hitler or Stalin played Video games or watched Wrestling and then went crazy. Of course it made me think, what video games or wrestlers would be Stalin & Hitlers favourites if they lived in this era? Probably God simulators for both, maybe CoD, CS or Halo for Hitler (I can see him teabagging people) while Stalins fascination for the naked male body (he loved drawing naked muscular men) would bring him to the Cho Aniki series ;D When it comes to wrestlers, again Stalin would probably love anybody with a bit of anabola in him while Hitlers favourite wrestler would surely be Brock Lesnar (Stalin would like him too especially thanks to his penis sword tattoo ) The same way i can play those games, watch those movies and not being affected at all. Yes, and remember earlier generations actually went out to war and killed each other for real and not just virtually. It's a lie that this generation is more violent than previous because we have always been violent, if anything taking out your aggression in video games rather then in real life would make this generation less violent than previous.
