To distinguish P1 and P2 so far I'm using a color palette switch. A different attire means different sprites and probably different gameplay, so I prefer to simply consider it as another character. Dynamite Dux is on my list. The problem is I can't find anywhere the sprites sheets from the game. I don't intend to rip the sprites myself, so if anyone knows where to find them, It'll be very helpful, thanks. I'll think again for the larger sprites when I'm done with the smaller ones. You seem to be a fan of Kenseiden so I'll see if Hayato will fit into the game, but don't get your hopes up Overall I've planned rougly 12 to 16 characters. So far I've got 6, and I'm currently working on Joe Musashi. yeah, pallet change that's what I meant! my mistake...not really such a big fan of it anymore after those damn skill levels but it was a great original game that never gets the praise it deserves that's for sure..that was like almost 10 years ago when I put my sig like that lol This might be way out of the scope of your design, but what about if each player selects two characters to begin with... the first character being a small one, and when that one is defeated, they respawn as their large character. So to win the match each player has to defeat their opponent's two characters. that's a really good idea! how big is Musashi's sprite compared to Hayato's anyways? I always thought Musashi was a bigger sprite already but I have played either in a while to really compare .. if you're gonna get into the bigger dudes another suggestion would be Paladin from Cyborg Hunter since you're going for Sega originals Great work! OpaOpa's got an unfair advantage against pretty much everyone. Steve didn't stand a chance.Love the victory celebrations as well. yeah! put R-Type and Transbot in there to even it out! (or alex in his peddle-copter) ... ship battles would be really cool!

If I could I'd put almost everyone I want to finish the game this year, and I'd like it to be under 1Mb (so it's easier to put into real cartridges), so I'll see what I can add within these limits. For your information, Hayato is about 25% taller than Musashi (and more than double the size of Alex Kidd ), so he's really bigger. And BTW Opa Opa's advantage seems unfair because I played against the dumb computer, against a real opponent, his average speed, slow shots and low health are big liabilities.

No update for today (next week I think), but I wanted to show you how I had fun with palette swaps, to differentiate the same character played by two players. I used only SMS colors even though the game runs on the Megadrive. Here are a few of these characters (with most of them to come), with original version/updated version/inspiration :

Do you need 2 players or will comp controlled player 2 select its own character.

If you play vs the computer, you won't need 2 players. Either you play a single fight, in which case you will choose your opponent (or let the computer chooser randomly), either you play the story mode (not yet in the game), in which case the opponents will be pre-selected.

OK thanks, may have seemed like a dumb question but I was under the impression that I needed 2 controllers to play, so I hadn't downloaded it yet.
