I think my light phaser aiming is off but why? In Gangster Town when I enter my name the gun will shoot the letter beside. (i.e. I will shot "b" when aiming at "a". I tried three different light phasers and two different Sega Master. Could it be my tv? Or maybe this is normal?

lol I think not. I did a google search and this guy have exactly the same problem:
"Control: There's not much control involved in a Light Phaser game. Everything depends on your own shooting ability. I could swear my Light Phaser is slightly off though - it seems to hit about an inch to the right of where I'm aiming. I did take it apart once to fix the trigger, so maybe I put the lens back in slightly off."

My phaser shoots a inch lower than I aim. Can't even play rescue mission.

I've never had this problem. It all may depend on distance from the TV and so forth. Could be there's something wrong with the Phaser itself, but the only way to figure out is to get another and try it. Otherwise, it has to be where you're sitting, how far and how you're facing the TV.

In fact I have a theory about the problem but I need to prove it. ;D You see, my games also have a vertical colored bar on the left. So i'm thinking maybe this could affect the lightgun somehow since everything is one inch to the right... I don't know if this make any sense but I'm planning to try my SMS on my father's tv. Anyway, look at these screenshots, i'm not the only one with a colored bar. www.smstributes.co.uk/images/db/screenshot_fz_002.pngwww.smstributes.co.uk/getinfo.asp?gameid=248

It could be that you are a bit too tall/short in comparision to your TV or you may not be stading in the right sort of place, make sure you are fairly central.

Those screenshots are a problem with the emulator save feature, has nothing to do with the games.

Well it probably is down to that vertical bar that the gun isnt accurate due to how light guns work. Have you tried playing on a different television?

Are you using a widescreen TV? Because I always thought if you used the lightgun on a widescreen TV it would be messed up and you'd have to change it to the 4:3 view.

Has to be the TV then, the screenshots are screenshots so there is no connection there. I would bet you're probably using a fairly modern TV?

The vertical bar is normal, happens on a SMS also when there's horizontal scrolling. In Alex Kidd in Miracle World, when you get on the water, watch for the vertical bar appearing. It has nothing to do with light phaser.
The light phaser accuracy is not good and some games have different way of computing the "average" shooting point. That example on shooting the letter beside is a bit extreme.
