Ghostbusters was the first game I bought for my Atari 2600, and I loved it. It was also one of the games I got with my first SMS.
This game is loads of fun, but the difficulty is VERY unbalanced. I can EASILY earn enough money to get into the building, passing the Marshmallow man is cake, but making it up the stairs takes ALOT of practice. Gorza's kinda difficult too, but when you learn the pattern, it's not that tough. And then, the ending.....ugh, all that work and all we get is a little text?!
Still, I love this game, and I even have the rare US Blue label cart that comes with the alternate box style.
FYI, this game contains a Mark III startup logo, but was never released in Japan. We may never know why.

What's the artwork on the variation like? Anyway, about this game. I'd have to say it's definitely the best version out of the any of the releases. Way better than the 2600 version and much better than the NES version. Like the others, you have to collect enough money so you can enter the final building to take on Gorza. This game has the awesome option of a lot of more equipment to purchase, which is nice. Plus, you don't have to worry about running out of friggen gas like in the NES version. What a waste. As Lad stated there, the hardest part is the trip up the building. It's VERY difficult. At first it doesn't seem so, but then you keep getting belted by flying faeces and figure out it's not easy at all. I still have yet to beat this game. It's fun, but it does get aggravating later on.

I had it on the ZX, and loved it - and of course, the films and cartoons shaped my character, for better or worse. I don't seem to have this anymore for the master system - I thought I did, must've been years ago and I've not yet picked it up again. I'll try and get it in time for the end of the week.

I think Ghostbusters sucks arse....
Maybe it's because I only have a d/l manual that's missing some key information, or maybe I am just unco.. but I just think the gameplay and graphics are not enough to keep me interested at all.
First game I have bought that I have disliked, but hung on to for "the good of the collection"

Ghostbusters, when I first played this I thought it sucked major balls, I had know Idea what to do, what equipment to buy or even how to enter building (it was just sheer luck when I did manage) So my first impression was crap. Anyway after that first time, which wasn't an all to long go I went to one of my mates place and *gasp* they were playing ghostbuster and they new exactly what to do. After having it explained to me it was a very enjoyable game, and a couple of months later I picked it up myself and played it a lot.
I loved just saving up money, I saved up heaps, and then I find this damn cheat that gives heaps of dough, making all my hard work useless!
I think this is a great game to just sit down and finish once in a while, I think the most appealing part of it to me is it's variation, no two parts are the same. Even if some of those parts take 5 seconds to finish (marshmallow man).
Anyway, another awesome game!

Ghostbusters is great! It's very fun that you can go and buy different cars, traps and things and then go out for some cool ghostchase. Have anyone played the Genesis/MegaDrive version? It looks and sounds awesome but is boring and hard to play.

I'm enjoying it so far, now I've got to grips with it a little - I had never played any of the older versions and don't have the manual for this one, so after an initial quick test when I bought it and subsequent confusion, it got relegated to the 'investigate at some point in the future' pile and promptly forgotten about.

Where's that damn moderator? He needs to get his act together and visit this site more frequently so he can get rid of useless old posts and put this on the top.

Totally, there are like 10 people or so on here every day that could have had that stickied or posts clean in like an hour. Not to use me as an example yet again, but if I didn't frequent NESworld every days, the boards would look like faeces
