Here's my review:
Ghostbusters; a strange game. Boring and fun at the same time.
The first time you play it, it is the greatest game in the world, but it gets challenging because you get to the same point EVERY time! You climb the stairs, which is much easier than doing it in the original NES version, and you go to fight the bad guy. You almost always die!
At the beginning, you buy some equipment and a car (I LOVE THE FAST ONE), and then you head out to bust some ghosts. You use the ghost trap to capture ghosts, and EVERY time, unlesss you have a super trap or more than one trap, you have to go the Ghostbusters HQ and release the ghost in the containment unit. If you get enough money, you get to try to run past the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man, and if you get two men through, you have to climb the stairs of Zuul while zapping ghosts, and no you don't repeatedly tap A and B. When you get to the top, you fight Gorza, an evil ghost person. Be careful. The statues are...possesed? Okay... OH! And also remember to save your passwords, because you get to start out where you left off!
Challenging: 4/5 Fun: 4/5 Easy: 3/5 Replayability: 5/5 Overall Rating: 16/20
There's my review.

Had another attempt today, and I'm raising the cash and scaling the tower with no effort, but Gorza is still causing problems. I'll try to crack it over the weekend.

Man, this game is hard... or is it just me? Thought I'd complete it easy, but it's proving a bit more tricky than I thought. It's pretty cool though and I'm enjoying it a lot more than I remembered, and the music isn't as annoying nowadays. So far, a great choice for GAME OF THE WEEK! Steve

Is it only me that dislikes this game? I think it's awful. still a good film though and the megadrive version is excellent.

Finished it today, and while it was fairly entertaining to play through, it's hardly in the upper echelon of SMS games. It may be the best version of the game around, but it's still pretty basic, and once you've figured out the best strategy for each section it's a doddle to finish, and there's not much replay value after you've tried out all the equipment. Given that I saw all it had to offer in a few sessions over the course of a week, it's something that would have seemed a bit of a swiz to have spent £40 on back-in-the-day.

I played a couple of versions of Ghostbusters, one for C64 and also the Sega Master System version (I hear there was a Mega Drive version too. Be interesting to try it sometime).
I liked both version of that game. It was fun even though a bit repetative. I remember when we played the game on the school C64 we'd team up and have one person be in control of putting down the bait to stop Marshmellow Man. That was always exciting, looking out for Marshmellow Man and stopping him he crushed a block of buildings.
I guess I'd rate the two versions to be fairly equal, though the MS version had some fun extra scenes like the climbing to the top of the building and fighting Goza at the top. And yeah you can really say the game is replayable by the fact that you can keep trying again having made more and money and buy better cars and different equipment.
So good on the team that first created this game

Now i've played the game through i can give it a better opinion. And i still say it's awful, poor graphics and can the Marshmallow man actually be classed as a level? I hate it when you die on the boss or the stairs and have to go through that tedious first part over again.
Questions for anybody to answer...
1.Can you stop the Marshmallow man from destroying the buildings? 2.I thought the last boss was a woman,in the ins. it refers to it being male. 3.Where's Winston?

I know #1 when the "marshmallow attack" comes up use the ghost bait - it will stop marshmallow man appearing and destroying buildings. #2 The last boss is gorza is it not? It’s a woman in the movie. But I guess maybe since it’s supposed to be a god you could say it is sexless #3 They ran out of palette colours

2.I thought the last boss was a woman,in the ins. it refers to it being male. 3.Where's Winston? 2. In the Movie Winston asks this too (I thought Gorza was a male) and the answer is: Gorza is what ever he wanted to be 3. Nobody likes Winston so they cut him out. In the first Ghostbusters Winston wasn't a full member, he is also missing on the box of the DVD

Thanx for clearing them questions up Sinistral/Shadowangel. 1. I never want to play this game again so i'll take your word for it,i could never seem to stop him, not that it made the game harder. 2.I'll class Gorza as female,it makes a change having a female god. 3.I feel sorry for Winston, just because he wasn't in the very first scene of the original Ghostbusters doesn't mean to say he isn't a Ghostbuster. If memory serves me right he's missing from the much much better megadrive version of the game. There's something about that name Winston,I think translated it means The forgotten man.
