Late again, but here at last... We're starting week #19 now, and this time around it's the choice of retroslippy.
Without further ado....

When's my next turn, I'm just curious because I never knew how many people signed up. There's just Raccoon Lad left after retroslippy, then we're back to the start. I reckon it'll be best to leave it until after Christmas before starting over again though - don't know if I'll have much time for SMS gaming amongst all the festivities

Good evening, my fatuous simian peons friends. I was just wondering - may I also do a Game of the Week®, please? I mean, before I quash your trifling ilk. You see, in the Moth-Lord Belt of Ganxkor-Plyeices IV, to own anything 8-bit by Sega is a sign of great status - the mark of a true Maethraalk-Splfraxx, or as you would say, 'geezer'. I, of course, own a great many of these games, and have an unrivalled knowledge among my mighty kind. I have recently signed up to your ' eBay', so my collection has been increasing most satisfyingly - my own eBay bidding tip is to wait until another member wins the auction, then track down both the seller and the buyer, kill them, and take all their desirable posessions and any forms of personal identification. This method has only disappointed once, when I discovered that one game's instruction booklet had some felt-tip scribbling on it. I wept all night, like a big larva. I do hope that I can get to choose a GOTW®, if only to further illustrate my supremacy.

Come on, it's Tuesday already! Sorry guys, my bad. It's been kinda hectic these last few days, but I won't go into that on these boards. Anyhow, seeing as it's near Christmas... I thought I'd be generous and go for an easy choice, a game that everyone owns and (surely) everyone enjoys playing at least a bit. Yep, I'm talking about: CALIFORNIA GAMESNot the sh*t second version, the original game - and the reason I originally bought an SMS. I thought it'd be cool to read everyone's reviews, but also see the high scores in a couple of the events. So as well as your thoughts on this classic oldie, post your scores on the following events and we'll see who gets what: foot-sackskateboardingsurfingI'll post my review tonight.... as well as a couple of 'not-very-hard-to-beat' scores! I had California Games on my Commodore Colt computer back in 87 on a 5 1/4" floppy disk... 1/2 a meg of RAM on that computer...
So when I got the game on SMS about 5 years later I was quite pleased with it. From the boppy music and fairly easy gameplay. The options for choosing certain events is good too.
My complaints though are only 2.
1. Footbag response is way to slow for all the spins/headbutts etc. 2. Surfing is impossible!! You think you have the perfect run with jumps, turns and tubes and the highest score I have ever gotten is 3.2.
But a great classic choice dude!
P.S. I love BaldwinMothra's posts! They crack me up big time ;D

That game is one of my favourites for the SMS. Almost all the events are very fun (except Skateboarding and maybe the flying disk thing). Footbag is good, even if I can´t get the best combos. Half-pipe is good too, but very repetitive.
For me, the best are BMX and Surf. The first one is very difficult, I´ve only reached the end once and because I wasn´t doing any tricks! On surfing the most I received was 7.8, but is probably my favourite.

Hey California Games II isn't that bad. Now then, I guess I'll have to tear myself away from Cosmic Spacehead to play this game again.
