I can't catch the frisbee to save my life...
Decent enough game, but it's got a (somewhat) steep learning curve that I never had the patience for. I also have this game on my Atari 2600, which was the first time I ever played California Games.

I think it's been years since I've given this game a good seeing to. A classic for sure, but it's never really gripped me, personally. I remember being pretty hopeless at it, but then again, that seems to be a recurring theme. I'll exhume it for a week

I hate this game Foot bag and BMX are fun, but i'm to dumb for the other games, i can't even throw the frisbee past the first sign and my surfer always goes down the screen ;D I bet this game isn't made for girls

Looks like I'm not alone in never quite getting the hang of this one - ditto Summer/World Games. Still, I'll dig it out and have a crack, hopefully it'll click this time...

I have Summer Games and Int. Track & Field on the Playstation and i don't like this games too. I don't like those 'press all buttons as fast as you can and destroy your gamepad with it' type of games. I bet this games were just made for the industry to sell more controlers/joysticks ;D

Once again, great choice for GotW. I agree with the steep leaning curve quote, it's not exactly a game you can pick and up play and be good at it. I remember playing it when I was younger and probably not being any good at it. Managed to pick it up recently and after playing it for a bit picked it up really easy. Once you get used to the event it's really enjoyable. All good events, BMX probably being the best. I'll give it another go and post my scores. I don't know if anyone's familiar with the super bike, surfing and footbag cheat. Can we use these for high scores? Overall it's a good game, nice graphics and music and pretty enjoyable and quite underrated in my opinion. You can also have up to 8 players, how cool is that? Peace

I bet this games were just made for the industry to sell more controlers/joysticks ;D yes, or perhaps the conspiracy is bigger, and darker than that. When we all have arthritis from playing too many of these sports-event games, we won't be able to handle those tiny controls on MP3 players and mobile phones manually, so technology will have to be developed to control these devices by power of thought... ...but the electrodes we attach to our temples will allow the devices themselves to send electronic impulses directly to our brains, which will then be translated by our nerve-centres into subliminal messages commanding us to build more machines, with ever greater artificial intelligence, that eventually overpower us and proceed to wipe out all organic life on the Earth. retro slippy is obviously in on the whole thing, trying to influence us toward our own doom - do not trust him. He may even be one of them, sent from the future to blend in with us - hence his retro-slippiness

Awesome game!!!
I think i'll crack it out tonight and try for some high scores... Also if anyone ellse posts theirs, I think they should mention whether they used the prize footbag, bike or surboard. I mean surfing becomes a lot easier when you have that new board!

California games 2 isn't that bad,it's complete and utter dog turd. The sequel isn't even half as good as the original,I love California games,it's got to be the best multi-player on the sms and one of the greatest games of all time. I used to be the absolute master at this game but haven't played it for a good decade so I may be a bit rusty.

I haven't had a great deal of time to play this week, and the brief snatches I've grabbed still hasn't been enough to get a decent grip on any of the events or really inspire me to keep trying. I guess with dozens of other games to play I just haven't really got the patience for it.
