After my previous unsuccessful attempt to trade in some spare sms games to cex I decided to drop them in person to my local store . Managed to get everything traded in this time , if you can get them accepted as mint the credit prices for common games is really good , cash price not so much but I can buy megadrive games from them so I don't mind credit . I wonder how they can make profit giving £10 credit for Olympic Gold or Dick Tracey
They did look over the games closely and the games need to be near perfect to get mint , they didn't test them so that is a worry , I asked them about fake games and they said the would test anything over a certain value , but didn't mention opening them up . They must keep a retron 5 out back , can't imagine they have all those systems hooked up .
I got £85 credit for a bunch of common games , Just ordered gunstar heroes for the megadrive for 80 , I would have struggled to get £50 quid for the stuff on ebay so I basically got gunstar heroes for a great price providing it arrives in nice condition .

I have never played the sms version , I actually just bought this for the megadrive last week , put many hours into the megadrive version , mostly because you could edit player names , appearance and the kits . It was clever from developers as they didn't have to pay to use naming rights , just let the customer add their favourite players .
Was planing to play the megadrive version over the weekend so I will pop this on while I'm at it . Only played world cup 90 as a kid , played that to death , will be interesting to see how they compare .
Their was a thread a while back and someone had posted all the scores from the magazine reviews and I think super kick off actually had the best score , 96% or something crazy like that so I'm expecting good things .

Great pickup for the collection , I remember feeling quite pleased to finally get this game , popped it in the machine to test it out and fairly quickly taking it out and putting it away , Certainly one for the never to play again shelf .
Might play some NHL 94 on the megadrive later , I don't even watch or even understand ice hockey but I always enjoy that game ,

I'm reasonably tempted to buy this " Alex Kidd In Miracle World 2 " www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Alex-Kidd-In-miracle-word-2-Sega-MASTER-SYSTEM-/322399562299?hash=item4b1082ea3b:g:L9IAAOSwImRYii9eI've seen a video and it looks quite true to the original , also looks well made . Alex Kidd In Miracle World is my favourite game on the system so I'm all for new versions , I don't see much wrong with the title , it's not like Sega will ever do anything official with the franchise . Sega are not as bad as Nintendo when it comes to copyright , sure the streets of rage remake was taken down but their are also loads of Sonic fan made stuff that Sega have been ok with and even recently encouraged . I wouldn't, someone has just put together a crude repro of an earlier unfinished version of my game. My full version will be finished soon and it will be available to you and everyone else who have kindly contributed to the site Excellent , Sega really missed the boat by never making another true Alex Kidd , Lost Stars and High Tech world are fairly awful and while Shinobi World is a great game it's more Shinobi than Alex Kidd

I caught Cex trying to pull a fast one on me today , I sent some sms games to them for trade in as I could then use the credit to buy some megadive games . I sent them all up as in mint condition . The prices they offered where really good £12 for Dick Tracy , £12 for Golden Axe , £12 for Olympic Gold , they offered me £90 in total which I was happy with ,
Then I got an email saying that the games had all been downgraded to " boxed " condition and now the total was £40 for the trade in , I was surprised as the games where mint so I asked for them to be sent back , I was thinking mint must mean " like new "
Got all the games back today as promised and noticed they all had those very annoying price stickers on , and all of them are priced as " mint " So basically they got the games and priced them up as mint and then sent me an email saying they where only in boxed condition .
Going to fire off an email complaining , also going to keep the stickers on and drop the games off in person to my local Cex and see if they give me full price On reflection it's probably only loose carts or games missing manuals I would send again , but you got to be careful dealing with them

I played through this and completed it with both asterix and obelix a few months ago but it's still quite fresh in my memory .
My thoughts on this game would be largely positive . Graphically it's excellent just like the original was , anyone who has played asterix on the nes will see their is no comparison .
The sound does not match up to the original but that said it's by no means the worst sound I've come across , Game play is great and the level design is quite varied with underwater , desert , snow and underground levels .
I found the game to have a good difficulty curve , while the bad guy's are easily enough to dispatch their are a number of really tricky jumps where you really have to be on your game . Also a couple of the bosses took me more than a few tries to defeat them , and we also have a few puzzles thrown in for good measure , I particularly enjoyed one of the last levels you got to press left in order to move right . All in all the game can be finished 40 maybe 50 minutes which is fine , easy games are pointless IMO .
One point that that I've not seen raised yet is that just like the original the levels in many cases are completely different depending on which character you select , this is a great feature that I've yet to see in other sms games . Helps improve the replay value massively or if you get stuck on a level often changing character means the level is slightly easier .
I never owned this as a kid but I know that if someone gave this to me for my birthday I would not have been disappointed .

Being Polish/Russian myself, I can answer that question - the only popular 3rd generation console in Poland was the above-mentioned Pegasus (and some other Famiclones, like "Terminator" etc. - it was the same in Russia, naturally). You could play Japanese carts on them though, they weren't region-locked at all. I think it was launched around 1993-1994 more or less. Mind you, there was even a TV commercial for it. Games were dirt cheap, you could buy really expensive carts, like Flintstones 2 for 2-3 bucks at most, and the console itself could be bought for 10-20 bucks easily. I've never seen a single SMS in Poland, to be honest. All of my friends had either a Famiclone growing up or just plain nothing. However, pirated Sega Genesis was still more popular than SNES, because it was apparently cheaper to make. Sadly, most of us experienced only NES/FC from the entire 3rd generation of consoles, and the 4th generation was pretty much an enigma. There were some lucky people who owned a pirated Sega Genesis, but that really was a rarity. Heck, most of the games couldn't be bought legally either - instead, you'd go to the local marketplace and buy them exclusively from Ukrainian peddlers (no joke, lots of people made a living like that back in the day). Very interesting , So you guys got the Pegasus around 1993 - 1994 , by that time the 3rd generation was ending . Also you did not have any kind of 4th generation consoles . What was the first officially licensed console to arrive in Poland ? It is weird to think how huge gaming was at that time but also almost non existent in your region

I notice CeX are now selling sms , their prices are all over the place , they don't have much in stock currently but the person in charge of pricing has put no effort into their job For example they list a mint wonder boy III at £35 which is certainly top end , but then have a mint home alone listed at £30 which is well below market value . In fact a lot of games seem way to low a mint hang on card version for £25 , mint buggy run £90 , ultimate soccer mint £22 Their are bargains to be had if they ever get anyone silly enough to trade in at these prices Good spot, I've been keeping an eye every now and then but missed it. Some of the prices are completely whack. £2 for unboxed Ultima IV. (£6 boxed) This is the same price as great soccer 'card' version. £15 for boxed Robocop vs Terminator. Bought this recently CIB for £3.83, including postage. As I don't mind getting cart only, am hoping there may be a few bargains to be had. I know a lot of people don't like CEX for various reasons but to be honest I've never really had a problem with them. Most of the time the staff are friendly and helpful, even when I'm being a fussy old bar steward about disks and instructions. Not sure how bad cart only stuff could be, but I'm sure if I had any problems my local store would be more than willing to sort it out for me. Anyway, well worth a look when you get 10 mins, even if only to laugh at some of the prices. Side note: Anyone willing to sell Ultima IV, I'd be happy to beat CEX's trade in price. I recently sent them some games for trade in , its a fee post service , saves ques at the shop . It was just lose carts for megadrive and snes , things that wouldn't be worth selling on ebay . Got 60 in credit for it . For that I ordered a mint Robocop v Terminator , earthworm jim and captain planet , all for the megadrive . The games arrived quickly , none of the 3 games could be described as mint however I had to return the Robocop v Terminator as the front page of the manual was missing , they refunded me without any hassle so if I need to get rid of more junk in the future I would use them again .

I think Poland was still part of the old USSR for much of the sms life span , Both Sega and Nintendo would have had little access to these markets . I guess their would be little or no sms in Poland . I think that you're right. Just visited a video games bar and the only console that they had was one of these: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pegasus_(console)It was terrible. Ha ha! Yeah that's grim , capitalism isn't always perfect but it beats getting the Pegasus for your birthday .

Is that you on there that's looking for the tournament sheet for champions of Europe? Yeah it's a bugger to find, iv got one luckily in my copy. Don't particularly want to let it go but I'd maybe trade it for something, let me know It's cool I was thinking it could be a nightmare to find but I quickly found a copy , I think I have all the extras now unless something else emerges , luckily most of the extra leaflets and posters are easily found and not to expensive apart from the two extra Ultima IV books .
