There are many movies and series I like, such as Back to the Future, Star Wars and Rocky, but my favourite movie is easily The Shawshank Redemption.

I'm quite a movie buff, so I love lots of movies.
I'll agree with knightwarrior's picks of The Goonies, Back to the Future trilogy, E.T. and Ghostbusters. They're all fantastic movies. Also good to see some love for Freddy Got Fingered. To me it's a comedy classic.
If I had to pick my number one film, I'd go with the obvious choice like meu2 and say Shawshank Redemption. Completing my top 3 wouild be The Karate Kid (original) and Rain Man.
Some other of my faves that come to mind are Toy Story, Napoleon Dynamite, Amadeus, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Wall-E, T2, Warrior King, Four Lions, and The Waterboy. I'm sure I could list loads more but I'll leave it at that.

Completing my top 3 wouild be The Karate Kid (original) and Rain Man. Rain Man isn’t something that I would immediately think of, but it is a great film. Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise are brilliant in it. I also quit like A Beautiful Mind. Normally I don’t really care for Russell Crowe, but he was surprisingly good in it.

I love films, and I probably spend more time watching them than playing games, although I do actually have a lot more games than films. I have tons of favorite films, way too many to list. But some of the ones that I can watch repeatedly without getting bored are:
The Transporter (quite possibly my fave movie ever) Indiana Jones Trilogy Back to the Future Trilogy Star Wars Trilogy Rumble in the Bronx Crank Kiss of the Dragon Total Recall ...
As the very condensed list above shows I love action films the most, but I watch a lot of more 'grown up' films too. The already mentioned Beautiful Mind and Shawshank Redemption are both excellent.

I'm not even going to start making a list because there are way too many...
Just a few I would like to add:
- My name is Nobody. - Once upon a time in the West both for their soundtrack... +10 coolpoints for those who know the artist that made the soundtrack without googling it!
- What's eating Gilbert Grape - Radio (one of the best rolls Cuba Gooding Jr has played so far) - Men of Honor (again, Cuba is one of my favorite actors) - Rounders (poker fanatic, second best one in the genre) - Shade (best one in the genre) - Fight club (Edward Norton is one of my favorite actors) -... I could go on and on and on...
"wrong" movies because they are so wrong, they're just awesome - Gremlins - Beethoven - Chucky (the first one, the rest is utter crap) - ... same here, the list is endless.

Ennio Moricone Once Upon a Time in the West is an excellent film, and has to be watched with the TV on full volume for its fabulous music. I'm going to have to watch it again soon, its been a while.

I spotted Crank in that selection and had to laugh its one of those films that is sooooooooooooooo bad it crosses the line into being good although Crack 2 crosses back over that line While the obvious choice of Shawshank is amongst my favourite films i'd go for in no particular order Old boy Once were warriors Cast away Midnight express Empire strikes back Fight club - like PrivateJoker i really rate Edward Norton Loads more!!!

I found playgenerations remark funny, because I love movies too but I end up watching to few seeing as I spend way to much time on TV-Shows, Internet & Gaming.
To mention a couple of movies that I love that haven't (I think) been mentioned yet.
Planet of the Apes Pentalogy - I acctually love them all (I even appreciate the bad 2001 remake) and usually watch them once a year in one go. I can rewatch the first one again and again without getting tired of it.
Apocalypse Now - Maybe the best anti-war movie ever (though I haven't seen Johnny Got His Gun which sounds even more depressing). Just the process it took to finish it makes it an epic, the angst and troubles just oozes thru the movie thru the production.
12 Angry Men - Such a simple movie. but the dialogue and character development is amazing.
Aliens - The perfect blend of action, suspense and sci-fi. Put in a female action hero, a homosexual rape undertone & the 80s and it's pure gold.
Anything by Nolan except Insomnia. I will sound like a fanboy, but I haven't seen a movie that Nolan has written & directed that I haven't fallen in love with. Considering my Batman love, I would probably say The Dark Knight is my favourite Nolan movie.
The Wrestler - Even if you are not a pro wrestling fan, this is a great movie not only about the wrestling buisness but life in general. But damn it I hate the ending, makes me feel ill each time I watch it.
Honorary Mentions: Dawn of the Dead '78 version Dog Day Afternoon Dirty Harry Falling Down etc. etc.
And last but not least, two guilty pleasures, Shoot 'Em Up & Zardoz. Both awesome for different and wrong reasons.

Hmmm, so many films that I love, I really couldn't decide which was my favourite, probably either Gone in 60 Seconds ( I LOOOVVVEE cars!) or Interview With A Vampire. I too really liked Shawshank Redemption, but once you've seen it you know what's happening so it sort of killed off the replay value for me a bit!
I've recently invested in a Lovefilm subscription for my PS3 and have been watching an unbelievable amount of old films on there, most recently Top Secret, one of fav spoofs of all time starring Val Kilmer!
I pretty much agree with everyone's choices so far TBH, haven't seen a film mentioned that I haven't enjoyed watching.
I also love Shoot 'em Up, seen it so many times it's unreal. So corny that it's excellent. Anyone fancy a carrot!

Aliens, T-2 and The Empire Strikes Back are basically tied equal favourites for me.
Predator, Robocop, Leon, Shaun of the Dead, Airplane!, The Naked Gun and Die Hard would probably comprise the rest of a top 10 but in which order I couldn't tell!
Nice to see Top Secret! get a mention! It's absolutely nuts - a 50s rock and roll singer fighting a Nazi-styled East German regime with the French Resistance (with comedy names like Latrine and Deja Vu) there for some reason. I couldn't place it above Airplane! or The Naked Gun though.
