Hey guys, my lady and I are planning on going for a two week trip to the UK at the start of April, and I was hoping since almost all of you seem to live in the UK that you guys could offer up some good recommendations of the sights that we should see when we go there. We are still planning out our accommodations, but to know the places you all recommend to check out we can better plan where we are going to stay. Let me know!

I love london. I guess you mean proper sight seeing things but my favourite 3 places in london are China Town, a big arcade near lecister square where they have street fighter 2 cabinets where people on the over side challenge you and Forbidden planet.

Yeah, proper sight seeing areas are great, but places like this are great too. It would be nice to get a sample of both touristy and non-touristy places.

London is a fantastic place to visit, if your there for 2 weeks though you should make a trip to Dorset or Cornwall. Or parhaps come up to Manchester for a couple of days, all thease places are easy to get to on the train. One of my fave places in London is the Tate Modern, I make a point of going each time im in London. They have different massive installations in the main hall each time ive been...

Those pics look great. We had seen a write-up for that place, but kind of skipped over it. Now though, we'll definitely check it out.
As for exploring elsewhere, we really want to do that, but we're having trouble finding a cost effective way. We'd love to take a train around cheaply, but the ones we've found online are really expensive. What's the best way to get around, like say going from London to Glasgow or even just out to the nicer countryside? Is there a specific rail that is cheapest or best?

I went to the sugar cube one. It was funny watching kids climbing them and getting told off by the guards . From what i saw on TV the other day the one they have now is quite good. But i won't tell you what it is because it will spoil it.

Train prices aren't that bad, if your earning the same currency as your paying for them with that is . Take a trip to Wales if you want to see some nice countryside

No dartmoor or cornwalls countryside is the best. Guess where biltho lives . TBH i've never really been that fussed with London, every time i've visited the place i've spent more time stuck in traffic than anything else. I'd much rather go to Leeds or Manchester or for sight-seeing York or Chester. I've been to the top of York Minster too, cool experience

So when you guys go to all these places, what are the specific things you go to see? At this point it is all a little overwhelming for me trying to piece this trip together with so many different constituencies to consider!

Two weeks isn't really a lot of time to try and see all the best things in the UK. It might be a small island, but its got a lot of stuff squeezed into it. I'd stay in London and maybe take a couple of day trips to the coast to screw around in the arcade's. Is the old SEGA arcade still in Brighton?

At this point it is all a little overwhelming for me trying to piece this trip together with so many different constituencies to consider! Well apart from the Tate Modern (which you really MUST see) I also would recommend the V & A muesem, Covent Garden (just the area is great, street entertainers etc), Harrod's is interesting, Its just an over priced department store but interesting non the less. On the same note Fortnum and Mason, and also Hamleys are interesting shops to have a look round. The London Dungeon was pretty cool (allthouhg I was a kid when i went to that). Also the Imperial War Museum is fantastic - if your into big tanks and such We would normally buy a day pass on the tube (underground) for touring london, it's about £5ish per day (I think?). Taxi Cab's will rip you off, especially if you don't know the area, they will take you in a big circle to get more fare! I'm sure there are plenty of places Ive not been to that are great, the London Eye looks pretty cool, and Buckingham palace.
