Yer it is still there but it is now called the o2 arena and holds music venues and such. Also at the moment i think they are showing a Tutankhamun exhibition.

Well I'd recpmend the national portraight gallery if you have any interst in art or history, you've got to go in a porper English pub (poorly lit, pre 1850 and with a landlord who insults everyone if you want the real deal!) and the tower of London is quite cool if you want to have a look at the crowns and history. The millenium dome is now the 02 arena and I think is more a gig venue than tourist trap these days.
Canterbury is quite nice too, it's full of nice little pubs (the Thomas Becket, just off the main high street is brilliant), has alot of very nice old buildings, much older than most of those in central London and of course Canterbury cathederal is a world heritige site. If you want to get there its about 1 - 2 hours (depending on the train) from Charing Cross or Victoria and the town centre is about 1/2 a mile away from the train stations, just follow the signs to the cathederal.

Thanks for all the great suggestions so far, guys. We're getting lots of great ideas, and already have a laundry list of places to visit. Keep 'em coming!

Stay away from Bethnall Green. Popped in the Blind Beggar the other day for a pint. Walked down Commercial Street to the next boozer and was bombarded by people asking me to join Islam, the fastest growing religion in the world apparantly!

The O2 Arena is actually pretty good. I'm one stop away from it on the train, so I go down there from time to time for a nice meal (there's quite a few restaurants) and maybe go see a film at the VUE cinema they have there. The London Eye is pretty good, and right by it is Namco Station, which is a cool arcade. Maddam Tussauds is pretty fun, lots of good photo opportunitie there And right by that is Regent's Park, which is perfect for nice morning walk. That's all I can think of for now, but let me know if you want any more ideas.

The best view of London is the one from the bus when you are leaving it. I hate the place

I hate the place Haha, well, we are planning to take the train out of there later on in the trip, so I'll be sure to look back to see if what you speak of is truth. ;D Thanks for the pub and park recommendations. Most of the big places I've heard about, but those are things that I would have read nothing about, so it is good to know and to be able to plan our trip around.
