I don't know what it was about it I loved Alex Kidd in Miracle World to death, even played it to completion time and time again. Everyone raves about PF being this great platformer but my young mind just couldn't get on with it.
At the time I thought Enduro Racer was the best game in the universe (I still do to this day!). So maybe I'm just mad.

You NEED to dig it out. Once you hit the sweet spot of pressing down when you go over a ramp and you get that little boost of speed....just amazing. Oh and Wonderboy 3 is miles better

Love it as well, anytime I boot up the SMS i find myself ending up playing a round of My Hero. Me too, at least once a month I will give it another shot. Have had this games since 88, never beat it yet. The three stage loop is week, but I guess you should be able to beat the boss by the 3rd or 4th time. I must be impaired...

Mine would have to be.... Psycho Fox. I was only about 9 when I bought it and spent months saving up my £1 a week pocket money to be able to afford a good game. I didn't really read magazines so reviews weren't something I knew about so I'd always wander down to Toys R Us to check the boxes and see the games being shown on a screen. I was usually quite lucky in what I picked with a mix of box art and screenshots able to tell the good from the bad. It was how I chose WonderBoy 3 (talk about luck!) and Alex Kidd in High Tech World (I still love it to this day, short but sweet). Yet one time I picked Psycho Fox over Outrun for £29.99 and couldn't have been more disappointed when I finally played it. I thought it was boring at the time and haven't touched it since, I still have that niggle at the back of my mind so I won't be rushing to pick it up until the later days of my collecting. Psycho Fox is one of the games I wanted so badly as a kid, finally picked it up about 2 years ago. I don't know what I was expecting, but I was not immediately impressed. I haven't given up on it though, I will give it a proper run once I beat some other games which I've had much longer. There still may be hope for it but I'm not sure...

Back in the day the worst game I had was Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. I got it as either a Birthday or Christmas gift and remember opening and thing wow this is going to be incredible! I couldn't even get past the first level, I hated how difficult and unenjoyable it was to play. I seem to remember my uncle (4 years older than me) getting to the 2nd stage on the train but thats about it.
I remember getting Fantstic Dizzy and feeling a bit disapointed with it. I had grown up with Dizzy games on the Spectrum and loved them but this didnt feel as fun to me. The graphics were great but somehow the gameplay just didnt cut it. I've played it since but never compleated it, just not a fan.

Love it as well, anytime I boot up the SMS i find myself ending up playing a round of My Hero. Reading this thread earlier actually made have an hour on it today. Loved the game as a kid, frustrating that one hit and your dead but also part of the fun because it makes it so difficult. My Hero seems to play a little better on the original arcade version. But 3 levels then loop back to the start?....Kung Fu Master which came out in 1984 gave me more satisfaction with it's 5 floors and interesting guardians at each staircase. You have the satisfaction of a brief reunion with your gal after floor 5 then it loops, but I think Kung Fu Master is really well made and one of my favourite games. My Hero is still very cute on the SMS, but the 3 level loop is way too unsatisfying even when compared to other SMS games of the same year.

I‘ve never played kung fu master but im sure i will at some point. When i came to purchase my hero in 1990 it was £14.99 half the price of a normal game and for the price i was very happy. I think its the marmite game of the sms, you either love it or hate it.

There were a lot of NES and SMS (or Mark III) games in the mid '80s that either looped, upped the speed or difficulty or changed the background colours because of the lack of hardware capability. I'm still capable of enjoying some such games. I liked Hang On even though it's 8 times the same stage. And Ghost House kept me interested enough to get through all six stages. Safari Hunt (which I never owned) is an example of a game that looped so quickly that it totally lacked value for my time and money. I think even Snail Maze is worth more than Safari Hunt

Wasn't Safari Hunt usually a pack in with other games though?

Safari Hunt was packaged with Hang On on one cart. and sold with the original Sega Master System as the Sega Master System Plus (which of course included a Light Phaser for Safari Hunt). I know that you could buy Hang On by itself on cartridge, but not sure about Safari Hunt. I think the NES's equivalent pack-in cartridge, Duck Hunt/Super Mario Bros. was a much better deal. Duck Hunt is a pretty decent game even if it does play much like Safari Hunt does. I like your hunting dog who laughs when you fail to shoot a duck Super Mario Bros. is a cool game, better than Hang On, but I still think Alex Kidd in Miracle World is better
