I'm probably in the same boat as most others on here, full time job with long hours plus two businesses to keep going, 2 very active kids one does cheerleading or gymnastics 5 times a week and the other is into ballet, and on top of that I've had doctor's orders to get as healthy as I can so spend at least an hour a day working out. I still very much love gaming, but console gaming is a mythical dream to me nowadays, I think I've had maybe two hours where I could sit down and enjoy playing SMS games in the past 2 months (and unfortunately I chose to play Little Mermaid!). That doesn't mean I don't game though, I get quite a few hours in on my GameBoy whilst I'm sat waiting for my daughters cheer classes to finish or on my lunchtimes at work, and I've just ordered a new battery for my PSP so I can play SMS on the go too . I agree with others, I think the biggest thing to do is overhaul the Game Club section, The more people that are on here to chat about the games that are being played by everyone, then the more posts will get put up in other areas. I do think forums are a dying breed though, social media has made everything so much more instantaneous that people don't like hanging around for answers anymore, maybe we can come up with some ideas to link stuff into twitter or stuff? It just so happens that I actually have a copy of Power Strike sat in my Retron 5 at home right now, so I'm gonna try and get a sneaky half hour in when I finish my night shift !

Some good mentions there, I agree with them all so far. Terminator is a very easy game, 10 minutes start to finish, good fun too. TBH I find a lot the games on the system simple enough once you know what you're doing on them

How do you guys play your ROM's? I only own a handful of SMS games nowadays, explanation may or may not be coming in the off topic thread soon depending if I can be arsed or not, and I don't own an SMS console at all now. But, I do still want to play and enjoy the great games available on the system. At the minute the choices available to me are:
Nintendo Wii
I have a softmodded Wii running retroarch, and so far all the SMS games I tried on it work fine. I dislike the feel of the wii mote and also the fact that it needs batteries, but it is pretty close to an SMS pad I suppose. I have a classic controller for it but have found it hit and miss when it comes to compatability.
Retron 5
This is how I play all my original games at the minute, and while I love all the features of the system for real carts, getting ROM's to run on it seems a bit awkward and long winded to me. But using original SMS/MD pads does give it that added bonus.
Laptop
I have a very high spec laptop, and of the emulators I've tried on it they all seem to run games fine. I also have a pad convertor so I can use an original pad, but getting that to work is very hit and miss, when you set it up the button allocation presses are ultra sensitive and usually end up with me getting mad and throwing things. I laso dislike playing on the laptop screen, much prefer using the TV.
PS3
Now I'm yet to enable the playing of rom's on my PS3, but I am very much interesting in the idea. It seems like a lot of messing around, but once Retroarch is running on it I can see this being a very good option. Of all the pads available to me I would most likely be happiest using a PS3 pad, comfy, no wires, rechargable, and one I am more than experienced with using. Downside, if I jailbreak my PS3 would I still be able to use it online?
PSP
I hacked my phat PSP years ago after the disc drive broke on it, and it probably got more use than my slim after that. I played loads of ROM's on that system for a year or so, but I must say I had a lot of compatability issues with it. I was using Kega at the time and while it played MD stuff just fine the SMS was very hit and miss. On top of that, battery life was an issue, although I daresay a new battery would solve that. I did like the pad and the portability though.
DS
I played ROM's on my DS using an R4 card, but I only ever really tried one or two SMS games. I played loads of stuff for the GB on it but every time I tried playing console games they just felt wrong. The touch screen on my DS is broken too after a heavy handed rage moment, and some of the emulators I used on there used touch screen functions. I basically just found the system awkward.
So that's my current options. What would you do? Is there better ways of playing SMS games on any of the systems I'm currently running? I'm pretty much running either RetroArch or Fusion on most as at the time I was more bothered about playing Nintendo roms than sega ones, so is their better emulators around that I may enjoy the games on more?
Help me out and give me some info!!!

So what's the chances of us getting this going again? Is Predator 2 the current game? I think there is enough regular posters to get back in the swing of this, maybe it's time to start a new entrant list and give this a new lease of life . In the meantime I'm gonna play Predator 2 on my next set of days off, beaten the Mega Drive game many times over but don't remember playing the SMS version...

The Last boss on Wanted is a tricky bugger, really hard to hit him and not get hit by the projectiles at the same time, took me a fair few attempts to beat him! I can't remember which level it was now, possibly the 4th, but I found one of the bosses in Cloud Master an absoulte nightmare, come to think of it I don't think I ever managed to beat that game... There's probably loads more that should get mentioned but I'm getting forgetful in my old age

When I needed help in Brazil I went to ASSEMBlergames, paid a slight bit of commission but it was worth it for what I got, also found a Mexican contact on there for something I needed from there

So I've started a T Shirt printing business in my spare time! I'm always coming up with random ideas of stuff I want to do, and this has always been one of the things I've wanted to get into, so I did it . Anyway, the first few T shirts I did were SMS related (obviously!) and as I'm now starting to stock up and do proper ranges as well as the personalised stuff I thought I'd start offering some for sale. First up is a Sega8Bit T shirt as modelled by ian below! A better image of the design is below but I used the wrong (now deleted) font for the Sega logo! The design is heat pressed vinyl so won't fade or crack in the wash, and obviously the top line will be personalised to whatever you want it to say . Available in any colour but the design stands out really well on white, tends to merge into the shirt on other colours. These are available at £15 posted within the UK, a small extra postage charge will be made to the rest of the world. Next I thought I'd let you guys see the first design from a range I have started that is going to be released soon called Gaming Legends. The first 4 designs are done and printed and as a huge SMS fan the first 'Legend' in the series is the one and only Alex Kidd! These designs are available in T's and hoodies, large range of colours for both the clothing and the vinyl, got a combo you'd like to have just ask. I'm going to be adding new Legends to the range every month so if you're not an Alex Kidd fan (Why not?) keep checking to see who will be added next! Again, T shirts will be £15 posted and hoodies £25, and these can also be personalised for a small fee. Excuse the dodgy selfie! On top of those I also do personalised stuff, done loads of designs for alsorts of businesses, from pole dancers to tattoo artists, as well as one offs for youtubers etc (check out Snestastic's shirt below) so if you want something making and have an idea in your head or even a doodle on the back of a beer mat, feel free to get in touch, I love that kind of stuff ! I'm also thinking about doing some of the designs from the T shirt thread, if I do I'll add them here . Anyone wants to order anything just drop me a PM, any ideas or feedback, chuck it in the thread below . Cheers peeps!

Thanks TWR Some time ago I added a bit to it, thought it might look good with some kind of border, so I just drew a little black border with a hang tab, so it looks a bit like a boxed sms game: Sadly haven't heard anything new regarding the contest for quite a while, though. Wow, I didn't think it was that long ago when I mentioned this! Bloody kids don't half soak your time up! Anyhow, as much as I love this design, it's pretty much impossible to do on the small scale to get a decent lasting t shirt. With a design like that your only real option is sublimation, and that starts wearing off and cracking after a few washes so as nice as it is, it's a no go I'm afraid. I do really like ian and barney's designs too though, very stylish and possibly may print some up!

Was gonna tackle a platformer next, may as well make it a competitive gaming session . Only played this one once and I think I beat it, emulated on my Xperia Play on a plane flight

Bit of a turd but all part of the fun collecting a full set. I could hardly make it 5 minutes in before turning off, eeurgh. Cost a fiver too I can only imagine the horror of some poor kid having saved up their pocket money and getting this for £30 back in the day. It's woeful. I didn't mind that one when I played it through, once you get the hang of the controls it's not all that bad. Not worth a fiver mind

I cut the tabs off my MD games as a kid (never had an SMS back then), the only shelf I had to store them on was a very tight fit for the games and it used to annoy me having to fold the damn things in every time I put them back! TBH it still doesn't bother me whether the boxes have them or not now, I don't plan on hanging them up so it's a pointless piece of plastic to me, as long as the game works I'm happy

I bought a nice little card holder for my loose PC Engine games from Yahoo!Japan and that fits the Sega Cards just fine. It's about the size of a VHS case and has sleeves inside, like a CD storage folder, pretty cool . I'll take a pic next time I'm in my games room and post it here

I put my carts the same way as you, PCB towards the spine, because that's the way they came packaged originally. I've opened loads of sealed games over the years and they were all facing that way
