Today I spent a few pounds on a nice 1986 edition of the Sega Master System 1 which is modded with a 50/60hz switch. I have 2 SMS's (my Original unmodded mk1 and a mk2) I guess I am starting a hardware collection of SMS's now! Anyway I got it home and excitedly fired it up and started comparing what I knew in 50hz with the nice shiny 60hz versions, it is fair to say I was in Master System paradise..........then a weird thing occured.. I broke off to have my tea and came back and tried to carry on with my gaming but the screen was blank, I checked the power light and all the connections..all fine..powered up again-nothing. I was really not amused.
I decided to plug in my old Mk 1- no issues, worked like a dream (albeit a 50hz one) reconnected my new system and...blank! I was getting increasingly disgruntled. I decided to connect it up via the RF and it was working fine, I then reconnected the scart and all was well. To cut a long story (relatively) short I figured that if my TV was in RF mode and then I switched on the SMS the RGB scart overrode it and the display appeared. Everytime I did that afterwards it worked fine but still I am a little puzzled how it only started doing this after several hours. I wonder if anyone out there in Sega land could shed any light on this strange curiosity? (well it seems strange to me anyway!) Has it happened to any of you and if so did you sort it out? Thanks in advance chaps!

It's modded so could be anything. Might just be down to a poor job or maybe it glitched and was jostled without you realising.

Thankyou for your thoughts Lorf, at first I was thinking that someone had mucked up the mod but I have been playing plenty of it over two weeks and it seems fine, perhaps the scart wasn't pushed in to its fullest extent that day but it is now and it's fine! I will be sure to check I have plugged everything in tightly in future!
