Hi I have just bought my first retro console so please be patient My problem is that I hooked it up with the RF to a small new flat screen tv via the analogue airiel and tuned it perfectly I have tried it on my larger LCD again via the aeriel and it tunes part from the fact the picking is jumping with flicking noise and line rolling through it I have not done anything different to the smaller tv but nothing works to resolve it Any ideas Thanks

I'm confused. Are you having problems on the smaller or larger TV? What channel and where are you from?

I have had a similar experience with a scarf cable which works perfectly on an LCD but I get diagonal lines moving along the screen on a CRT TV.

The small LCD works fine it's the large Samsung LCD one that is having the jumping and the flicking (although the picture behind all this flicking etc is fine) I'm in the UK Might it be that it will never play on a LCD 40 inch screen via RF - but then again why not ?

Possibly some interference from some other nearby electronic device?

Well if it's any consolation I've only ever had the RF connection work on my Mega Drive with my LCD TV. SMS and SNES work fine on my CRT but the picture is all over the place on my LCD. So I wonder whether it's just the receiver on the LCD is more sensitive to noise for whatever reason - never used it for analogue TV so it might just be the tuner that's knackered!

Got it. I used a 55" for my SMS playing, no problems at all. I had this problem with my Genesis until I switch it to a different channel. It's really strange, but that system, for some reason, only works on channel 108. Try playing with the channels and see if you get any result. The size of the TV shouldn't matter.

I also had a strange problem with my old 40" LCD and the Master System, and had a thread going about it here too. I tried all kinds of different settings and cables, but couldn't get a picture through scart - or, there was a picture, but it kept flicking off and coming back (the sound was playing all the time though)
Since then I've gotten a new 50" TV (not for the sake of the SMS problem though), and just for fun I tried hooking up the SMS, and then there were no issues. As it was pointed out back then, newer TV's aren't built to handle old consoles and results seem to vary a great deal, maybe even to such a degree that you cant get any decent output at all.
Today I use an old CRT TV when I play on my SMS, as was recommended to me back then as well, to get the right picture and compatibility.

I would suggest doing an automatic tuning first and then checking all the available channels. Failing that, try manual tuning instead as this sometimes works better.
Also, ensure that you do not have a setting on your TV that auto-tunes the aerial signal to get the best picture. I had an issue on my HDTV whereby the screen would randomly start white-noising and flicker like someone had pulled the cable for a second. This was rectified by changing the settings on my TV.
