Today I received a very special item, but didn't post it in the 'What You've Bought' thread as I think it deserves a separate one. Probably this is my most rare SMS item at the moment, and I'm really happy about it! It's a SEGA Shooting Zone! For those who have never heard about it, this is an arcade cabinet / board that works with Master System cartridges. More info here: www.system16.com/hardware.php?id=703www.smspower.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=9006Actually I didn't expect ever to find this thing, but found it somehow accidentally as wasn't listed correctly. At first I was afraid that got scammed as it had a huge delay in the mail, but finally it's here! Haven't tried it yet, however seller said that everything works fine. The 5 cartridges on the slots are: Black Belt Gangster Town Marksman Shooting / Trap Shooting / Safari Hunt Fantasy Zone Space Harrier and there's one card slot as well. Also came with the original beautiful (and really heavy) light gun, dedicated to Zillion. I love it!

Man that is one awesome find right there! Have never heard of this either! Great stuff indeed - hope it will work out just fine - that lightgun is really nice! (looks like it could be used in a regular SMS as well maybe?)

(looks like it could be used in a regular SMS as well maybe?) that lightgun looks killer!! I'd imagine you could always do a cord swap on it if it doesn't work Great find! I'd really like to try one of those!

Amazing find dude! I never heard of it before but I really like it, especially that Light Phaser and it´s design. Interesting is the thickness of the cable with many smaller cables packed in it.

That is so cool, so was this in an arcade game or something?

Very cool find Nick, I'd never heard of this before. Are those standard retail cartridges?

That is so cool! So I'm guessing these games ran on a timer?

Thanks guys! @ korax I don't think the lightgun can be used in a regular SMS as it has an extra power cable coming out which plugs in the board. It seems to have slightly different technology than a regular Light Phaser, however I'll try it. By the way it's full made of metal not plastic. @ Retrobob Originally this board was in an arcade cabinet (see photo at system16 link above), but probably didn't survive through years. I'm thinking of building my own in future. @ centrale I think works with credits/coins as all other arcades, there's no timer. @ barney They look like standard retail cartridges, but strangely all of them are missing the sticker on back side, never was there. I'll open them the next days to check the possibility of being prototypes. And here's a better view of the board:

Can you post the MPR numbers from the chips? They're not readable in the photo. These should let us tell if the carts are any different to the retail games.

Of course, I was just looking for Eproms and didn't check the MPR numbers. Black Belt > MPR-10150 Gangster Town > MPR-10577, separate mapper 315-5208 Marksman Shooting/Trap Shooting/Safari Hunt > MPR-10157, separate mapper 315-5208 Fantasy Zone > MPR-10118 Space Harrier > MPR-11071 According to the database www.smspower.org/Development/ROMPartNumbers all are retail games, except Black Belt which isn't listed at all.
