Hello! I'm a long-time Meka user and overall SMS enthusiast since 1989 (second hand system for my ninth birthday).
I live in Stockport and am interested in this event. Are newcomers the forum welcome along? And need I bring any games? I have about forty.
Thanks,
Josh

Thanks, Josh Yes of course We'll post the list of games for the comp nearer the time, unless of course its going to be kept secret?? But you are more than welcome to bring some of your faves. I would suggest some 2 player games you like.

I can confirm I will be coming, but I seem to have been added to the list already which is good.
Apart from death or being in labour at the time of the event I can't see myself from ever missing a meet... ;D

I'm looking into booking my travel for this and was just wondering what time we would be finishing? I can't remember how long we stayed till last year. Do we have to be out by a certain time rupert? Also, if there's anyone up north who might be able to put me up for the night it would be a big help!

Anyone needing help with travel or accommodation let me know, I cant give lifts or put anyone up but can help with how to get to manc, stay there cheaply and get around, I live 10-15 miles from the meet location

Well, the last train back to civilisation leaves at 20:35, but the incomprehensible fare system makes that one cost £34 whereas you can get the same journey (listed as 4 minutes quicker, too) at 18:55 for £12.50. I think we normally gravitate to the cheap one and miss out on the rumoured hanging about with beers and chatting that I've occasionally heard of. I'll be on the train unless I can scrounge a lift.

I've booked the train leaving London Euston at 08:00, as it was the cheapest. It gets there before the meetup commences but I can kill a couple of hours in Manchester. I've booked the 18:55 back. Like you say, it's not likely anyone will hang around late.

I find it hard to kill time in Manchester on a Saturday morning and not having to get up so early is very appealing, but it'd be a shame not to meet up on the way...

Manchester is an easy place to kill time in as long as it's after about 9am and places are open. I would be tempted to have a McDonald's breakfast, have a look in cex for stuff to order cheaper online etc. its harder for someone like me as I am allergic to caffeine so I cant even sit in cafe nero with a paper and kill half an hour that way

I'll hit up a Greggs and a few shops I know that sell retro games. And someone needs to be there early to help set up!

Mmm, McDonald's, Greggs... the gastronomic delights of Manchester! (I kid... as I mentioned before, the food at the Lass used to be excellent, so there's good stuff there if you can find it.)
Also, for some reason most people seem to turn up a bit later, e.g. 1-2pm... maybe we should suggest getting there a bit earlier so we can get more done by 6? (I may still end up on the morning train anyway, as I'm very miserly.)

What time is set up? I can try and get there early if I can make it that day. Is there anything that needs bringing? Or is all thats needed is an extra pair of hands to plug in power supplies and tune in av channels? Not hugely sure where the pub is but am sure I can get the mrs to give me a lift or there is a train from Bolton

Moon under the water is good for breakfast although it means sharing breakfast time with drinkers, used to get McDonald's breakfast at ayt Anne's square and eat a hash brown while the tramps were thrown out
