Some nice shmups there mate, love Galaxian . I keep thinking about moving on to Famicom collecting after I finish up the MD set, time will tell
I was rather impressed with Galaxian myself! It's pretty much arcade perfect, minus the difference in sound.
The Famicom has some GREAT shmups (ex. Recca, Tetrastar the Fighter, and Crisis Force) but the best ones are very expensive, unless you get pirates & even those sometimes are pretty pricey! Honestly, a huge library of Famicom shmups are available for much cheaper on the NES...or, at least, they are here in the States.
Operation WinBack sounds hilarious. Did you really need like 6 consecutive FIFAs though??
Worst thing is, he didn't even get the best FIFA game (FIFA 98) but only the bad sequels. But there are some good games in it. NHL '99 is awesome (it features the jersey design from the movie Slap Shot for the Custom team) Gran Turismo 2 is a classic, so is Ridge Racer Type 4 (best game in the series, imo) Medal of Honor (story written by Steven Spielberg!) started the whole World War 2 craze and is one of the passable consoles FPS.
But there's some sequel-crap there. Reloaded is worse than Loaded (kinda like Metallicas Reload sucks even worse than Load ) and for the NHL's, NHL 2002 was the best game during that game (had that awesome Trading Card system) while NHL 2004 was the game where they took out everything, even the create a player mode
Ha...even got Midway Arcade Treasure, a OK compilation, except for the horrible Smash TV emulation (in germany we didn't even get the game as it's still banned, but after reading how bad it was emulated there, i'm not even angry about it ;D ) and the buggy Rampart version. It has some interesting videos with interviews from the designers and Blaster is a game you have to experience, it's a trip.
I've heard nothing but good things about Life Force, but it's taken me a little while to work up the initiative to get it.
And yeah, I just saw MK recently and..."stupid but fun" pretty much nails it right on the head. It's all worth it to see Liu Kang's live-action bicycle kick. ;D
Life Force and Salamander 1 & 2 are bundled together, arcade perfect, on Saturn
You are just trying so hard to whore the Saturn off on me, aren't you? ;D lol I'll probably get one eventually. Seems like Action Replay carts are really expensive, though, and the vast majority of games I'd want for the system are Japanese!
