Got a cool new cheat for you guys. I knew this game had a Cheat Mode and have found a way of accessing it with a PAR code.
00C5 2001 - Activate Cheat Mode
When you start the game you will be given a level select. While in this menu, press button 2 to activate invincibilty (there's no indication given that you have activated this though).
There must be a way of accessing this menu through some sort of button code but couldn't work out how.

Ok, very shortly after posting that PAR code I worked out how to activate the cheat menu normally!
As soon as you turn on the power, hold buttons 1+2 and rotate the D-pad clockwise. There is no indication that the cheat menu has been activated but you will know if it's worked when you go to start the game.

How are you finding these, ian? You're the code master!
I'm just waiting for my copy of the game to arrive, but I'm excited to try it - the videos I've seen on YouTube make it look a lot more solid than a franchise game of this sort has any right to be. Thanks for the code.

Just noticed this cheat now! It's another Dominic Wood game like Lion King & Jungle Book - the same cheat! I wonder if there any other Virgin games this works on....

It's not exactly the same cheat, but quite similar. I had a quick look through the ROM and found the "true" cheat:
- Hold 2 on startup - The music signals time to enter the cheat - Press UDLRLRDU - The text shouldn't appear until you finish - You have slightly less than 1s to enter each direction
You can enter "wrong" keystrokes in between so rotating the pad works almost as well - but it'll take at least 3 rotations to get all the required directions in.
The cheat is exactly the same on the GG, except the music doesn't start until after you enter it; enter it immediately after the Sega logo fades out.

I did a bit of research into other Dominic Wood games. There's Lemmings, The Terminator and Battlemaniacs, as well as Lion King and Jungle Book as Phil mentioned, which all have similar cheats already known (the Terminator one being the least similar). His name shows up in readable text in all these games and no others in the SMS library. There's also a hex string (a non-game-specific part of the cheat entry code) that shows up in 5/6 of these games: db dc cb 57 28 which shows up in no other games. So I think we've exhausted that possibility
