Count me in!
I'm thinking the same as Ninja, i'd like to have a few drinks and not drive home. Especially if i'm having my dinner in the weatherspoons, they always have some good local real ales on.
I'd be happy to bring some equipment. I could bring the follwoing..
19" (square) LCD TV A standard SMS if required and games if required. I would also be happy to bring along bits and bobs from my collection if anyone was interested in seeing anything first hand.. i.e. US kiosk unit etc.. I don't mind contributing some stuff towards the comp prizes as well.

Bollocks! That date is no good for me guys Just recently my band made it through to the final of a competition. We're playing at The Forum (Kentish Town) on, you guessed it, June 20th. I'm gonna take it the date for the event can't be changed so I guess I'm gonna have to miss out on this one guys Gutted.

I would also be happy to bring along bits and bobs from my collection if anyone was interested in seeing anything first hand.. i.e. US kiosk unit etc.. The kiosk would be pretty cool to see/try and I guess the TV would be useful (it beats my 14" CRTs - I'll bring them anyway). I'll add those things to the list of equipment, if that's okay with you. I'll look in to hotels in a minute. I'd completely forgotten about that... EDIT: I've added information on three local hotels. Just recently my band made it through to the final of a competition. We're playing at The Forum (Kentish Town) on, you guessed it, June 20th. Congrats, dude. I wish my band was as... well, existent... :) I'm gonna take it the date for the event can't be changed so I guess I'm gonna have to miss out on this one guys :( It's not impossible, but it's probably best not to change it this late in the game. At least the competitions will be less of a foregone conclusion this year. :P

I was slightly wrong about the buses, it seems - but not in a plan-changing way, don't worry. :)
Red Diamond no-longer run the 64 service; they now run the 144 alongside the normal operator... Not sure what's up with that, but there you go. They also have nicer/newer buses...
Also: I used the bus to get from here to Birmingham this morning and a return was only £4. I don't know if that's because it was an early bus (the ticket was marked as such), though...

So are we going to decide on some games to play? Or are we just going to turn up and play random games all day? I'm happy either way, but if we're having a comp I want to get some practise in this year

Yeah, who wants to organise this year's competitions - or is that my job as well?
We so should have let Rupert organise it again this year...

What we need to do is vote for the games we'd like to see in the competition and then do a poll to pick the winner out of the top 3 if needed.
I think it should be the people who actually attend or are likely to, to have the power picking the games.
Here are my votes and maybe the challenges we could have:
Time Attack
Outrun Alex Kidd Home Alone
Knockout Sports
Micro Machines Sensi Soccer
Knockout Fighting
Heavyweight Champ Mortal Kombat 2 Street Fighter 2
Shoot em 'up - most points until dead
Power Strike Power Strike 2 R-Type
Phaser
Gangster Town Marksman Shooting
Novelty Event Knockout
Sports Pad Ice Hockey Sports Pad Football

Machine Gun Joe is good for some score based competition, its short and fun. I could bring a cart of it.
I think I'll bring my SC-3000 along too, not for competition just for people to play and try out if they want to, since I don't think anyone else attending has one.

Time attack: We did a speed-run on Alex Kidd In Miracle World last year, so I'd vote for one of the other games. Out Run is worth a try, but Home Alone would be an interesting choice... Whichever. :) Knock-out sports: Micro Machines. Knock-out fighting: Doesn't Street Fighter II suck? I've never played it, but haven't heard good things about it (the SMS version, I mean - although I'm not a fan of any version of that game...). Mortal Kombat is always fun - I'd be up for that. :) Shmups: Either of the Power Strikes gets my vote. Phaser: Gangster Town is fun, but what about Rescue Mission? They're both good, though. Novelty: Heh. Can we get two sports pads? I have one I can bring (US version). EDIT: Pie Slap! That's great fun. Would that come under sports or fighting? :P I think I'll bring my SC-3000 along too, not for competition just for people to play and try out if they want to, since I don't think anyone else attending has one. Sweet. I've wanted to try one of those.

I can bring a sports pad along if required and copies of any Euro game that may be needed. Is anyone bringing 3D glasses? I still haven't got any of those so haven't tried them yet

3-D Games are not fun for everyone else to watch unless you hook 10 pairs up at once!
Mortal Kombat didn't we do that last year? Can we play the 2nd one if we don't do Street Fighter 2.
If we're doing Micro Machines we'd better make sure we have SMS 1's that can play the thing or SMS 2's. I can bring a SMS 1 normal or modified if need be.
Novelty Event: I can bring an Handle Controller, maybe have a blast on World Grand Prix and I could bring the Footpedal Controller along too. The 2 work pretty well with Outrun Europa actually...Or Stick with the Sports Pad idea. I have 3 but none work properly (not sure if that's due to crapness)

Yeah, who wants to organise this year's competitions - or is that my job as well? We so should have let Rupert organise it again this year... I'm really glad your sorting it this year actually :) with this new job I don't seem to get half as much spare time despite supposidly being on the same hours ::) If you want me to organise any aspect of it though please let me know. Important topic: who's bringing what food and drinks? I like the idea of us all going over to weatherspoons for lunch but we could do with some stuff for the actual event. I could bring a crate of 24 larger's (not decided which yet) and perhaps some crisps or summat?

I could bring a crate of 24 larger's (not decided which yet) and perhaps some crisps or summat? Sounds good. As I said in the first post; there's an Asda a few minutes away, so I can pick up supplies if anyone wants stuff. Since you're going for the healthy option of lager and crisps, I could get some cakes and biscuits to go with them. :P Any requests?
