Apologies to the people who sent me messages while i've been away. For those who don't know I've been pretty much homeless for the past 8 weeks. I was at the end of buying my first home, signed the missivs and sent them to the other couple, my lawyer told me everything was in order and that i could give notice to my landlord that i was leaving my rented accomodation. 2 days before the move, i got a phone call from the solicitor saying the other couple had rejected our offer and not returned the completed missivs. apparently my solicitor hadn't followed them up with their solictor. effectivly they then had accepted an offer from another couple. and we had lost the house. Pretty much our solicitor excepted responsibility. But there was nothing i could do, i had to move out my flat and move into temp accomodation. This meant i didnt have access to the internet, except for my mobile. I eventually found another house and just moved in 2 weeks ago. My internet got switched on a week ago, but i've had nothing but problems with the house ( burgular alarms going off at 3am every night, toilets leaking, floors collapsing) so this is first oppertunity i've had to come online. So, again, apologies to anyone who messaged me i haven't got back to yet. I'm more gutted with myself that i missed the first SEGA8BIT.com event

That sounds really horrible. People are getting more and more cheeky when it comes to house buying / selling contracts these days - it's a trend I've noticed a lot over the last 2-3 years. Can't have been a nice situation to be in. And I know how you feel completely, I was literally homeless for 2 weeks in 2000 before I moved into a rented flat. At least you managed to get something sorted out relatively quickly I suppose.

I recently moved into my first new home too mate and I know where your coming from. You will have no social life until you have moved in fully and everything is finally finished. We bought ours over a year ago and there is still a few things niggling me.
Good luck with it all though, it will be worth it in the end.

Well at least i'm moved into a new place now. got my nice new game room and nice big tv. i've now vowed never to move house again. I can understand why people spend their entire lives in one place now.

I've been pretty lucky with houses. Every time i've moved my house has sold within the week and the sale has been completed within 8 weeks. I always try to buy a house with no chain, and i always stipulate to the buyers that if the sale isn't complete within 6 weeks, it's off. In fact the only stressful part for me is trying not to buy anything on ebay in the weeks leading up to the move. Last time i bought Mah-Jong from France 3 weeks before i was due to move, it still hadn't arrived on the day i moved . I knew the postie pretty well as he drank in my local, so he kept hold of the game for me and gave me a call when it turned up, it could have been a lot worse i suppose.
