Hi Sega8bit forumers!

Thought I should post a sort of rambling introduction, as I'm new here A few of you might have seen me around other forums posting as "Smii", or on Guardiana under this name. I've been into video games since the 90s, but got back into buying Sega games a few years ago now. (My MD collection can be found here: www.guardiana.net/?member_id=413 - if you're interested!)

While my collection's obviously MD/Genesis focused, I am a Sega fan in general - I also have a Saturn (+ 20-something games), 3 different Game Gears (with 100-odd games) 2 Master Systems (with 60-odd Master System games) and various other non-Sega consoles (SNES - my first ever console!, NES, DS, GBA, PS2. I've a feeling I missed something out, as usual.. )
And yes, I do find some time to play on them all!

Aside from that, um... I live in England, dividing my time between the South (where I was born) and Yorkshire, performing various boring tasks in order to trundle along through life. Yeah, I'm not so interesting! My hobbies are video games, music, books, and the occasional walk along the beach, listening to the waves and counting the dead crabs

Btw, someone asked me recently, "why aasvogel?" And although it's a bit of a creepy name (it's a type of vulture, "carrion-bird") I like the sound, and it's sort of fitting; picking over markets/car-boots/etc looking for additions to the collection is a little weird to some people - but I find it fun! (Also, I'm not very good at names, and the odd ones end up sticking!)

Hi there, welcome to the forum. There are quite a few of us multi-platform collectors here so you'll not be bored. So why the master system for you then? I'm just asking as obviously with you saying that SNES was your first system that the SMS was a wee bit before that, so what drew you to it? The retro factor? The games themselves? I'm always interested in those who didn't have the console themselves as a kid and then get into it.

Thanks for the welcome everyone, and the compliments regarding my collection - it's taken a lot of searching! I guess I'm not too far off the complete Euro set - there's a few gaps I want to fill, but mostly I'm missing stuff like classics versions, sports, & a couple of rares I already own from other regions. Not going to say I'll never try to complete it, though; it's an obsession, and very hard to say what point I'll stop at!

Anyway, I did have a MS as a kid, was given a MSII as a birthday present. (Came with Master Games, Sonic 1 &2, & Land of Illusion!) They said they knew I'd like it, since I already had "all that other video game stuff" And I guess I was a bit spoiled in that respect - I had the SNES, then my dad won the Mega Drive / Mega CD! (I still have all my original consoles - they are special.)

As for why I got back into the MS, honest answer is I don't know - guess it just sort of happened, as a bi-product of the MD collecting. One day I had a count and realised I had 30-something games! I'm not specifically after a complete set, I just buy whatever sparks my interest; e.g. the last games I got were Fire & Forget II, Deep Duck Trouble (which I would've finished in a sitting if it hadn't been for that bit on the last level! :, and a nice silver Sonic Spinball!

Guh - I really do ramble, once I get going!
