Hi,
Im currently the owner of a brittish and a french master system 2. And i cant get them to work properly on my Swedish PAL (same as german) TV.
The brittish system only have a RF out. And no matter how much I try I cant get the picture clear.
The french system only have a (5 pool) output. Dont know the correct name. The same as MAster system 1 anyway. Ive tried using a RGB cable, the French Original and a normal AV cable.
The only one that shows anything is the french original that dispalys a blueish picture.
Are these machine incopatible with standard PAL TV:s or is it just my TV that is too old? What about new TV:s? I think mine is from the 90's

The UK console should definitly get a picture on your TV. UK and Sweden both use the PAL format, although I'm not entirley sure if they both use the same pal subset, but even if not you should definitly get a picture but perhaps not sound if your TV is ancient. French use the Secam system, which should display properly through a full RGB scart cable I think. Thats if your TV supports full RGB scart connectors - if theres two scart connectors, then it may be only one supppirts RGB. And you may have to select RGB as an option if your tv has a onscreen display for settings. Try them on another TV thats all I can really suggest (unless you have missed something simple such as not realising the RF UK console will need tuning in and won't display straight away, or you haven't plugged in the power to the console

I get a picture, but it sucks. Or I get a good picture with crappy sound. I had the same problem with a UK NES, but that one worked with AV cables. Sadly the MS2 is missing that.
My Tv supports RGB and I have a RGB cable, still nothing. I wonder if French MS2 supports RGB?

I had a French RGB SMS2 for a while, but couldn't get a picture either using a standard RGB lead :/ Dunno why, I ended up sending it back to the seller instead of fiddling around with it...

The sms console to get is a MK1 with Safari Hunt and Hangon built in. That console plays all the games as it has the bios that supports 8megabit games, and has the second revision of the VDP which supports full screen PAL, which the three released codemasters games use. Also you can use RF, Composite/AV and RGB Scart cables on it.

You people in Europe are messed up with PAL and SECAM television systems. The entire world should swtich to one standard and be done wit hit. That way electronic equipment will be compatible around the world save for the electrical plug, which too should be standardized, but never will because of the massive changes that would be needed.

Well, PAL is a higher quality format than NTSC, it's just a shame that we get half-assed conversions a lot of the time instead of properly optimized ones...

I never liked how square the pal picture is. Rectangular is better. And our plugs are also better. At least they aren't some messed up shape and huge.

Brittish plugs are huge. Rest of Europe arent, though still bigger than the US/JAP systems. Imho the uk plugs are horrible. I hate them with a vengence. The american ones are kinda flimsy. They dont fit well and tend to either get stuck really hard or be a bit loose. I do like the size though.
The continental EU ones are great, but only the modern ones which reminds me of the US ones when it comes to shape. The older models are quite bad. Oh, and they alway fit well into any socket. Always.

I much prefer UK plugs to all the rest. I know they're big and clumsy but all the others just look like death-traps compared to them
