After I had my sms die on me the other day I turned to emulation to play some Wonderboy, but its not as fun using a keyboard, so I want to use my master system pad. I looked around the net but all I found was ppjoy, unfortunately that requires a a parallel port converter. is there anyway to use a sms pad by plugging it directly into my serial port? Any help would be great

I've been on that site several times, but I've never noticed that before, only the USB one. Think I'll have to make one of them myself, probably have a serial port connector or two around here somewhere

Thats the site I found before, Thats using a parallel port though and unfortunately isn't an option for me I'm guessing theres no way to do it directly through the serial port? Thanks for the help though.

I didn't notice when looking at that it used the parallel port, thought it was a serial port, forgetting that PC's just don't use 25pin serial ports.
Do you use your parallel port for something else, or just not have one? You can get a PCI card with a parallel port on for a few quid on ebay.

Thanks for the help though. Doh, sorry - I thought that was using a 25 pin serial connector, but you're right - it is parallel. www.smspower.org/smscartpad/usb.htm seems to describe (to a limited degree) a USB version. Or were you looking for a pre-made solution, rather than going down the DIY path?

Thanks for all the replies guys, I'm probably going to buy a PCI parallel port like playgeneration mentioned. Or I might try going about fixing my sms instead of all this emulation business. Thanks for all the help

There's a guy online that is known for making controllers just for this purpose and selling them. His ID on eBay is bunnyboi, I forget the site.
