I live in Australia and have a French Sega Yeno SC-3000H. There is no RF output unfortunately only a SCART slot. And it's rare for SCART slots to be found on Australian TV's. I've got an AU power adapter though so I can turn it on. I've connected it through my foxtel box because it was connected to my TV through AV and has a SCART slot. When I turn it on and goto the channel I just get grey screen and I can just faintly see some writing on the screen. I can also hear a beep each time I press a key. So anyway I'm not sure why that happens. Isn't the whole region issue supposed to be neutralised when dealing with RGB SCART? I got my cousin to test it out on his German Metz TV which he said has a SCART slot and he said he got the same result - grey screen. Anyone know how I can deal with this problem?

Does your cousins TV has two Scart sockets on it?, often only one of them will be full RGB. You might even have to select an RGB option from the TV's option menu.

What kind of TV are you using, CRT or LCD/Plasma HDTV?
If your using a LCD/Plasma then you may encounter such problems..

Nope haven't even tried on an LCD just tube TVs. I'm thinking I can just use a master system AV cable on a SECAM compatible TV. I read a post on this forum about someone who had a SECAM master system but it didn't work with a SCART cable but did with an AV one. Also the plug on the back of my master system 1 is the same I think - 8 pin DIN. Do American and U.K master systems have that same plug at the back?

Can someone with a US SMS 1 please just check the back to see how many pins the DIN plug is? The australian ones have 8 and wikipedia also says 8 but doesn't say what region. the only SMS cables for sale on US ebay are 5 pin DINs, but if US consoles have 8 pin plugs at the back then I'll know that they use the same cable. also one more question - is there any reason why something like one of these www.dse.com.au/cgi-bin/dse.storefront/467f6f1406b67844273fc0a87f9c070e/Product/View/P6675wouldn't work it hooked through an AV cable to a SECAM compatible TV.

All SMS 1's, Mark III's stuff like this has 8 pin offset DIN sockets..
The ones with 5 pins are like that because the 5-pin arrangement still fits into the console/computer to tap the AV signals.. if you get my drift..
The 5 pin connector is probably cheaper and easier to find you see.. and it fits.. and provides the A/V pins..

I believe the SC-3000 uses a different pin-out to the later systems - couldn;t get a picture on mine when I tried swapping the Peritel (SCART) lead that came with my French SC-3000 with the RGB lead I use for my SMS/MD
