A while ago I got an SMS from eBay, it looks fairly old so probably has seen a lot of use. Whenever I try to load my 2 Sega Card games I just get the built-in game screen. The cartridge slot on this machine works fine and I think the cards are supposed to working. So what I'm asking is - if it's possible for the card slot to be faulty? and is there a way to fix the problem (e.g cleaning or buying a new SMS)?

happened to me with a couple of systems. sometimes needed to try and retry like 6 times to load the card game, other times would just not work.

The connection pins in the card slot are pretty sturdy, but it is possible for them to get bent back out of place, if you open the console you should be able to see if thats the case. If pins are missing then you can get a replacement console cheaply enough.
