not quite as exciting as the title leads you to bleave, i spotted this sms II on UK ebay today. First one ive seen that doesnt advertise the built in game (which is Alex Kidd in Miracle World in this case) also the II is usually blue. thus.. but before you all go mad to buy it (which i'm not) It's basically the same as this (i think its from Italy) but without the sticker..

Maybe this ties in to the 'brand strategy' thing John was talking about, they released an earlier version, realized it didn't give the buyer a clue what was with it, and then started tagging stickers and pictures to it.

Its Sega using this simplistic aesthetic approach again to all the SMS stuff (abit Bauhaus). I like it myself but can see why they should really have added that Alex Kidd is built in, bit daft not to say.
Before Alex kidd was bundled in with consoles was it regarded as one of the best games available?

Im sure it says somewhere on the box that Alex Kidd is included. And while it was obvious to people at Sega, Magazine reviewers and such that Miracle World was one of the best sms games, that news hadn't really filtered down to the public. Hence why its a scarce game in its standalone form. But then most games didnt sell that well during the early years of sms, it was only when megadrive was released that sms sales really started taking off, as it was seen as the budget version of megadrive. But by that time miracle world was built in and not avaliable seperatly. If it hadn't been built in it would probably be one of the most common sms games now.

Could just be that someone has removed a sticker - there seems to be a bit of a grey smudge to the left of the console on the front of the box.
