I recently found this Gam*boy lot locally- Ghost House and Thunderblade really are those games. The cart with the picture of a robot is Teddy Boy and the fantasy looking cart is Safari Race. At first, I was happiest about the fact that I finally had a pair of Gam*boy pads and some real Korean Mark III games. But after getting it home, I began noticing differences between my first Gam*boy system and this new one. First of all, once I turned the new one on, the FM sound was functional. My other system doesn't have FM sound. The non-FM Gam*boy has a power cable built in and a red sticker on the back. The FM enabled system uses a plug in AC adaptor like regular SMS systems. Upon closer inspection, both systems have different voltage specs. The AC adaptor for the FM system has a 100V/220V switch. I thought that I had used it to test the system when I first got it, but today I couldn't get it to work and had to use a japanese SMS AC adaptor. The non-FM Gam*boy has a sticker on the bottom with a list of phone numbers. The cart instructions next to the cart port are painted on the non-FM unit, but are only a sticker on the FM system. The FM system also has a symbol next to the Samsung logo, which the other system does not. The d-pads on the controllers work great (just like NES d-pads)and I'm glad that they have screw holes for the knob-sticks. I'm not to keen on the square rubber buttons though. I'll be putting together a page on my site with better pics and more detailed info as soon as I can make the time.

Looks awesome. I'm still deciding whether I want one or not. So are these things pirated or was Samsung licensed to sell them?

Samsung sure did have a license from Sega to make the consoles. Some of the game cartridges for it are pirated though - like those multigame carts full of msx hacks.

Hmm, nice info. Do they have different model numbers on the bottom?
The Thunder Blade cart looks kosher, but the others are most likely pirates.
Seems like there's quite a variety of Korean systems:
Korea Oacs Mark III Samsung Gam*Boy (with Korean characters on the shell) Samsung Gam*Boy (English on the shell, built-in PSU, no FM) Samsung Gam*Boy (English on the shell, plug-in adaptor, FM) Samsung Gam*Boy II (black/blue version of the SMSII) Samsung Aladdin Boy (bright blue/yellow version of the SMSII)

nice find! thats the 2nd Gam*Boy Ive heard of being found in Canada, would it be both of yours? Mine is the: 'Samsung Gam*Boy (English on the shell, built-in PSU, no FM)' and I played it for the 1st time last night, the big diffrenace I noticed was the picture quality but this was just because it was the first time i'd used a scart on an sms makes a big diffrence! Also my Ghost House has a completely diffrent art work to yours.. (the one on the right)

Heh, I recognise that 45-in-1 My Gam*Boy is the same model - built in PSU, no FM. Seems like the most common one. And I've heard of several others turning up in Canada too - mine came from there, and including this new one, at least 3 others also did.

How does your 250 in 1 compare?

Thats what those 100 in 1 gameboy carts of old are like. They think that starting the game with a different amount of lives, or on a different level makes it count as an entirely different game. It was all oneupmanship, people would obviously buy the cart with the most games on, so these pirates just cheated to make their cart seem the best.

Yeah, the 260-in-1 is similar - I've not counted how many individual titles there are, but they do repeat. I've been meaning to go through it and list them all, but only got upto 40 or so. Still pretty cool though

yeah i did that with mine, i noticed 'Cave Dude 3' is just 'Cave Dude' from the HES 4 pak, but ive also got a 'Cave Dude 2' which is actually better.. or it seemed so for the 3 minutes I spent playing it I'l try it some more and perhaps post some screen shots. Also on there is a version of Street Fighter 2 which is much better than the Tec Toy version. I guess more on this later but here is a taster...

That's 'Toto World 3' and 'Jang Pung II' to give them their proper names HES swiped Toto World for the 4-Pak cart, but it's a Korean-developed game.

I think I prefer the Korean names though Ever noticed how terrible the music is for Toto World 3/ Cave Dude is? if you turn the sound off its not a bad game
