Fistly point out that this isnt an sms item but felt it relevent enough not to be in the 'off topic'. (you can move it if you think otherwise). I picked up a boxed mint Sinclair Spectrum Light Phaser the other day (£1.20). I found it interesting as its a blatent copy of an SMS Phaser. Its the exact same size in every way, there are clearly alot of diffrences in the design.. but its essentially the same.. Here's a pic of it next to an SMS one (and Zillion laser tag for good measure ) Other interesting points (i thought anyway) is that on the back of the manual it says Virgin/ Mastertronic.. perhaps the reason its so simler? Plus the box is exactly the same size as an SMS Phaser... I havnt tried it out yet as i my 'speccy' is tucked away in the attick somwere. It connects via a phono cable and also has a seperate cable with a 9V battery connector on it, so i can imagine this being a bit aukward to use (especially when you get into full on action combat mode when nobodys looking, lol). Anyway, I just thought it may interest some of you

That picture with the three guns is like one of those evolution of man charts, only with toy guns instead of crouching apes.

Its interesting how pretty much all Sega Master System products and most games kept to a strict design code, very plain but functional, I think thats one of the elements I really love about the Master System. It kind of reminds me of when we learnt about the Bauhaus at uni. I say this becuase that Sinclair Phaser box just does not appeal to me at all..

It's a bleeding box Rupert, get a grip man ;D
They do look the same, but the Sinclair one is a cheapo version , very light and just tackily made. I think you're showing off again with your light guns, but hey which one could protect you from The Mob?!
Anyway Zapper or Light Phaser, which one is best?

is there a manufatoring year on the box / phaser anywhere? because it would be nice to see if it was made around the same time as the sega phaser.

Hahaha, connecting Bauhaus to the Master System marketing designs. I guess I see it. I must say though, it is something I like as well, makes the collection look nice and orderly, other than third-party accessories and damn blue TecToy releases.
