A 100 post count would stop the undesirable lurkers, but it would need to be put with an over x days count to stop people just spaming their way onto it. I don't have a problem with people browsing the site and clicking the links or our new members sharing in what we find, what annoys me is the retroboy style lurking.

I voted other, 100+ posts is too high.
New members should feel included in the site and if you set it at 100+ they're not going to feel very welcome. 30-50 posts is a more reasonable amount.

Yeah, 30-50 would be good. That way the eBay tags section would be out of the way too from all those lurking eBay sellers.

Hmmm both ebay and long standing. 100 posts means nothing, didn't retrobiatch have a bunch?

A minimum of 50 posts is reasonable.

I'm really not sure about this tbh... I'm on the tags list, and wouldn't bid against anybody on it without the standard discussion (also since I don't need to bid on a whole lot these days). But I've always been slightly uneasy with the whole ebay tags concept in general as I've mentioned in the past. I completely understand the concept of keeping the prices down, and avoiding artificially high end prices needlessly etc. but I've always been of the belief that part of the fun of ebay is the bidding - I mean it's a bidding site! You're supposed to bid against other people and if you're willing to pay more than anybody else - you win! Although I can see some people will probably be up in arms - I actually DO feel sorry for some of the sellers such as the one that has barred those of us on the tags list from their auctions, and others who will be aware of the system from noseying at the forum. Rather than us keeping the prices from artificially increasing, we're actually guilty of the opposite - artificially keeping the prices LOWER than what they might be in open and fair bidding. I feel sorry also for new members to this forum who might accidentally bid against another member and then get either 'warned' or whatever afterwards. They'll feel pressured into joining the tags list even if they don't really want to. I'm sure some others might agree with me - and of course I know others will disagree - that's absolutely fine of course. I just thought I should throw it out there. As I said, I'll continue to stick to it, but for items such as the 'transbot cart only', 'Hong-Kong Shanghai Variant' & 'South American Secrets' I'd propose that all bets are off - those items don't come around often and I reackon it's unfair that people feel they should stick to the system under those circumstances. As for the point in question - fair enough poll, but I don't think having the section of the forum restricted in any way is a good idea, as either way (posts or long serving etc.) unscrupulous people will be able to get round pretty quickly.

I have to agree with Kungfukid, the Ebay Tags idea also makes me uncomfortable hence why I have not participated. Reducing the notion of competitive bidding this way should not be encouraged. The reality is that it's only for items worth relatively small amounts, and doesn't bother me that much to comment until now, but it's essentially a process of price fixing. I look at it that if I was a seller on Ebay I wouldn't be best pleased this was keeping my item's price down.

I disagree that it is price fixing. I mealy think that it is friends trying to help each other out by getting the lowest possible price.

Err.... that's what price fixing is.... except on a larger scales with supermarkets / airlines etc. groups getting together and artificially increasing or decreasing prices.... There isn't even a debate about whether it is or isn't - because it is. The only debate is about whether it's right or wrong...
