Hopefully it goes through, I think I have a good chance at this one, but you never know. If it doesn't work I can find more people. I'd be interested in interviewing the creative designer from Sega of America about those box art designs.

I need to fix some errors Mego found, but for now I added a response he just sent me tonight thanking us for the opportunity. Check it out at the end of the interview.

Really nice interview Stan!
Though, I missed a question about his private SMS collection, It sounded to me that he might have some cool stuff thinking about what he said about the sports pad:
Could be fun knowing what a person that worked in SEGA have of the SMS stuff.

Stan you should see if you can get a bit more info out of the guy and update the interview with any new responses.
I'd previously suggested asking him what sms stuff he still has - and for some photos if there's anything interesting.
and
"I was sad to see the SMS reach its end of life and did work on some titles and systems variations that were supposed to extend the lifecycle."
Were there any actual ideas for what these new games and consoles would be?

It wasn't bad, but was lacking in useful details (I felt). It did contain some cool stuff, don't get me wrong - and I did enjoy it (nice work getting it done!) - but he really could do with expanding on some things (the disk system, for one).
And maybe adding some cool pictures of his collection, as others have stated.

I kind of agree with Aypok. There was lots of neat stuff in the interview, but no "Oh My God, That info is so juicy I have to touch myself" details. But beggars can't be choosers, so I'm happy with what was in it. Pretty nifty

Yeah, I see what you mean, but there was only so much he could remember. Judging by what he said, the disk system was just a model, it didn't do anything. I pretty much told you all the possible ventures they were going to take. They were the SMS II (released), Genesis adaptor (released), Graphics Board (not released here), Disk Drive (not released) and the motion sensor thing they left until the Genesis was popular enough to try to pull it off. Didn't work though. He told me pretty much what he has, kept the games he liked the most (mainly RPG style games), has a few trinkets like an old Sega beach towel and such. I didn't find it pertinent really.

I want a Sega beach towel Perhaps if it is possible, you can try to conduct an interview using an instant chat program one day. That way you can ask follow ups to something interesting the interviewee says. I don't know if that's possible as far as convenience for the interviewee, but it would be cool if it was possible. Then I might end up touching myself

Clint Dyer had a big collection of Sega stuff (including prototypes) he accumulated while working at Sega and sold all of them in 2000-ish years.
