ah nice one.. that will be a laugh wont it. Im going to choose on of my favorate sms games, which is my favorate RPG on the system, yah if you talk to me then you'll all know whats comeing!!

Y's the vanished omens. In my opinion the best rpg, adventure roleplayer on the system. Exellent smooth running gameplay, easy controlling, good quality sound and graphics of a game of this age. Also released on nintendo, c64, famicom and others. Those i have never played, but the Sms version of Y's is what ive been used to and love.



You play Aron, (known as adol in other versions) a swordsman. The kingdom of Y's is overrun with dangerous beasts and a sourcerer named Dark Dect is planning diabolical magic! You can probably see where this is going... The Seer is actively looking for a swordsman to destoy the enemy and recover the six books of Y's, which gives one the knowledge to call upon goddesses to restore peace and destroy evil!! Its down to you to save the people and the kingdom from his reign of terror! Original...



Anyway, you have to journey through the kingdom of Y's battleing beasts and spirits gaining HP to make you stronger. With the gold you earn from defeating enemies you may upgrade weapons which makes you more powerful ... eventually you become the ultimate fighting machine. You dont enter into battle scenes like on Phantasy star, but you strategically walk into enemies whilst armed with a sword in order to wound/kill them, there is a certain knack to it which im sure you will all get used to. I think this way of battleing is good because you dont get pissed off when your trying to go somewhere and keep getting bothered by wild beasts!!



Also included is a save feature so you can come back to it later as its a fairly long game to complete. Doubtful one could do it in one sitting.

Personally i havent played it for ages... so i thought to mysel;f ill get it out and have a bash, its also my turn for GOTW so i thought... why not share the excellence of this game with you lot and all.

Good choice,i love rpg's.never played any on sms thou,i'll make time for this.i've recently played swords and swerpents on the nes and got really into it,i'll give it a try this weekend :-)

Its well worth it, first time i ever had a go i didnt give it a chance.... but when you have a go and get stuck in its really good!!!

This is one of my favourite games EVER! I've played the SMS, TurboGrafx-CD and Japanese PC versions. The TG version is my favourite. I recall playing about 2 minutes of the Famicom version before laughing and shutting it off ;D Ys is definitely one of the best action RPGs around...I've played through every sequel except part V. I hope someday an anthology gets released. For those of you just starting out, you need a LOT of patience to grind your levels up. Move to another area only after the current enemies give you 1-2 EXP. Also, don't attack enemies head-on...try to hit them off-center eg. your foot hits their head or vice versa. Great pick, I'll start a new game soon!

there was four saved games on my cart that seemed to be at various stages of the game,i think whoever my cart belonged to knew the game pretty well,i earased all the data thou,i'm surprised the battery back up is still working after all these years

I'm in the same boat. Looks like a great game, and that opening menu music is the kicker, but you just can't fire up an RPG like you can most of the other pick up and play games on the SMS. I was pretty excited to play it before, but this nice review only helps too. This is a sweet feature guys, fun stuff!

I ain being funny but i get qquite 'excited' playing this game and all. Occasionly i make uncontrollable pelvic thrusts towards the televsion screen.

I remember wanting to play this game since I was a kid but when I finally did, I was a bit ticked off by the combat system.. so I only played for like 20 mins. Well I'll have to give it another go.

really got into this game now thanx to a few tips,i've just beat that ugly green thing in the palace and am searching the upper floors,got my experience level to 4,'ll prob go outside and try and raise it cos i keep dying in the palace.bye for now,going playing it some more,can't see me getting anything done this weekend lol

haha its good ive got at least one into it. i found at that stage in the game best way to raise your EXP is to exit the palace and as you go outsiode a enemy comes towrds you. kill him then go back in the palace and out again and repaeat killing him many times over. its the quickest way blates.
