Well, I see Craig (psychofox) already started a thread about this one, so I may aswell continue it in here He's away for a couple of days right now, but sent me the following selection & review earlier in the week. So, without further ado, here's psychofox with the details:
Well this game has everyone’s favourite SMS storyline, your girlfriend has been kidnapped, its up to you to rescue her (Why do people in videogame land never just call the police? – if my girlfriend got kidnapped, I don’t think I would go on an adventure to rescue her (1) I wouldn’t get the time off work and (2) I wouldn’t know where to start. Plus I only have one life and no continues.
Anyways, your girlfriend has been kidnapped blah blah blah. Same old story right? Wrong.
This game has a wicked twist. Whats the twist I hear you all shouting?! Well you’re an Egg.
And your girlfriend’s an Egg.
How Genius is that?
And we’re not talking about some big fat egg who sat on a wall and just fell off again, we’re talking about the greatest Egg of all time.
Yes boys and Girls,
Game of the week number 8 is ……………………………………………………….
…………………..Fantastic Dizzy!!!
One of only 3 Codemaster’s games released on the SMS, Fantastic Dizzy is a platform/puzzle/adventure game which is just so much fun. And the SMS version is easily the best version of this game, boasting megadrive quality graphics and one of the best soundtracks around (unlike the megadrive’s moody music) this game should be in everyone’s collection. (Although the Megadrive version did also come with a map of Zakeria which is really good)
Anyone who used to play on the spectrum, commodore or amiga back before the SMS will remember Dizzy from his many adventures on these computers, and the day I heard Dizzy was coming to Sega, I was a very happy bunny (I can actually remember seeing the full page advert in ‘Mean Machines’).
You basically have to explore the different parts of the Zakeria, picking up objects to be used at a later time, collecting stars, riding Minecarts, firing crossbows until you climb a magic beanstalk and take on the big bad evil wizard. What more could anyone want from a game?
Anyways, I love this game, its one of the main reasons I got back into the SMS and I hope everyone has a fun week rescuing a female Egg.
Oh – our good friend Snow Blind has put together a wicked walkthrough guide to the game should anybody get stuck. Heres the link…..

Enjoy people
Craigy
... so there you go! Another worthy selection, as I'm sure most will agree. Best get cracking!

A good game from what I recall, but one I never really spent much time on. Just didn't grab me like some have done. Guess I'll have to get playing and see what I missed out on.

Well, well, well... another excelent choice, a Fantastic game with a lot of great things: graphics, sound, playability... everything is fantastic and it really makes us think in the amazing games that could have been ported to the SMS in 1995/96 and weren´t because of the abandon of the machine...
KUDOS to another excellent choice !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Alas... I don't own it, nor have I ever heard of it... Might have to hunt it down on eBay...

Alas... I don't own it, nor have I ever heard of it... Might have to hunt it down on eBay... Yeah, all the Codemasters games are very hard to find outside of the UK. Dizzy stared life on the Spectrum, and there's over a dozen different titles & spin-offs across several platforms.

Just spent an hour or so playing this, and it's every bit as good as I remember. Dizzy's collect 'em up puzzles/platforming mix may not be to everyone's taste, but I must've spent weeks playing Treasure Island and Fantasy World Dizzy on the Amiga back in the day, and felt right at home here. The only problem I have with it these days is the lack of a password/save option - I got about 50 of the stars with an hour's play, but I really don't think I'm going to find a free 5+ hour stretch to be able to actually beat it. Having said that, I'd imagine it would take a lot of the challenge/exploration out of it if there was. Ho hum. Great game tho!

A password would really make this game more playable, but then it would also make it so much easier.
Wonder why Codemasters gave Cosmic a password and not dizzy?
