I think the whole selecting routes concept is a good idea, though I haven't beaten it yet so I can't say how that effects the ending or anything. Well, there's no Route 2 for the final stage, so I'd guess it has no effect. As I pointed out, they remedied that in the Game Gear version. But at the same time, the enemies usually take more hits to kill (and those clown things not only roll, but they bounce off the ground). As for extra lives, there's about 30-some to 40-some available throughout the game (if you go Route 1 only, at least). I finally beat the SMS version yesterday (all Route 1). The ending is kinda crappy, but what can you do? I mentioned Yuzo Koshiro before, and what do you know? He was "Sound Manager." Anywho...Now I'll have to keep trying Route 2.

I was quite surprised when I saw this one chosen as a GotW, since my limited recollections of it were just another uninspiring platformer/license cash-in. However, as has happened a couple of times now, once I dug it out and gave it better look I've been able to see that there is more about it than may seem at first glance. The one-hit kills can be frustrating, but patience and caution does seems to work well. It's just as well there's no timer, because I'm taking ages fannying around trying to get some of the trickier power-ups with pixel-perfect swinging - a series of perfectly placed swings and jumps across the screen can be truly gratifying I haven't got all the way through yet, but the infinite continues make it just a matter of perseverence if I can find enough time before Sunday (and don't mind feeling dirty using them). So, nothing earth-shattering but certainly much better than I'd previously given it credit for. Good choice!

Where do you hit the Penguin when he's in his duckmobile thing?

Where do you hit the Penguin when he's in his duckmobile thing? You're supposed to hit it in the head/bill area.
