I've been playing again to tonight, and things have certainly improved - I got to the 3rd boss before using a continue.
It seems that you're pretty unstoppable once you get a couple of power-ups under your belt. Since most of the enemies only fire when they're in the middle of the screen, you're not actually in danger most of the time.

Double Hawk is the poor mans Cabal, however the game certaintly is fun and addictive. Double Hawk would have been so much better if the gun control was more fluent.

I have to agree, this game has alot of potential, but i think the sluggish,annoying controls spoil it for me. i find the controls similar to assault city (pad version).. the crosshair is just too slow at times.
I have decided that the game isnt as good as dynamite duke, but is still fun. i also found it a bit odd at times when there appears to be no enemies on the screen to shoot and your left thinking "what am i supposed to be doing here?"
The only thing i havent been able to try is the combined 2 player mode. Im sure this game would be alot more fun being played with company.

Double Hawk doesn't even come close to Dynamite Duke. There is a timer at each level except the bosses so I think you can get through a level without killing anyone.

Poor man's Cabal? Maybe the arcade version, but the NES version is worthless. I'll take Double Hawk any day.

Totally, it's one of the few games I don't own in my NES collection because it's just so terrible. Double Hawk, on the other side, I'd gladly place on the mantel. Who can't love the obvious references to Stallone and Swarzeennengnennger on the cover?
