Wait, Wait, Hang on a second....... Okay I'm here. After a lot of thought about what game to choose I finally thought of a game which I feel is one of the most under-rated games for the system. DOUBLE HAWKIt may not have the best graphics or sound and it isn't the longest game for the system but what it is is just fun. I used to rent this out quite regularly back when I first got my SMS and it was the first SMS game I bought on ebay. Basically you control one of two soldiers (who on the box art look suspiciously like Arnold Schwartzeneger and Sylvester Stallone) and you must shoot terrorists using your cross hair whilst dodging in-coming rounds. Where the game really does shine is in the two player mode. A friend playing can be a big help but there is always the arguments that arise when the powerups appear and you are both trying to get them. Overall I'd say that although it is not the best game for the system it is still worthy of a place in any collection due to the fun and addictive nature of the battles. Plus it is a great game to get friends playing playing along with you too. As for a high score challenge this week I would suggest playing on the hard difficulty setting. You may still win the game but try to get the highest score possible. For those of you who need a ROM of the game I've found this site very useful: emu-russia.km.ru/data/roms_en.htmGOOD LUCK EVERYONE!

We should have just continued with Alien Syndrome. We must stick with Monday to Monday, keep the routine. We should play double hawk for whats left of this week (cheers Matias) and next week as well.

Okey-dokey, we'll stick with Double Hawk until Monday 16th. And that's final With a bit of luck that'll mean I'm able to get past the first level before the next one comes around I'll have a go tonight and post my initial impressions...

Weird, this is exactly the game I was going to pick. Anyway, great game, one of my favorites. Could have used some in-game music, but really it didn't matter that much to me. Plays like Dynamite Duke where you move back and forth on the screen and also move your aimer around as you fire to take out the enemies. This can be a bit annoying as the aimer has a tendency to move kind of slow, but it's still very playable. This never becomes an issue, even at the bosses. The graphics are fine, and it's a lot of fun with two players. The separating tank boss took me the longest to defeat as I couldn't figure out what to shoot at, but everything else was cut and dry. A couple more power-ups would have been nice, but still everything is put together nicely. It's a game to play now and then, especially with another player.

Good choice man, i quite like this game, but havent really given it the time it deserves. As stan says, it reminded me alot of dynamite duke. although im not sure which is better at this point.
Double hawk here i come...

Another game thats sat in my collection without ever being played on and i'm pleasantly surprised as to how good this game is.I think it has an arcade feel to it and bet it's quite a laugh in 2p mode, shame i have no friends . I finished it on easy on my first go, only really getting stuck on the level 2 boss and then really really stuck on the level 5 boss.Once i did it on easy i fancied a go on difficult and didn't notice that much of a difference except the level 5 boss is even harder i must have used 50 continues on that alone.I think my highest score was the 45,500 you recieve for killing the last boss, although i'm confident of beating that.I think the use of infinite continues spoils the game a bit,it can also flicker a bit when the screen gets busy and sometimes you can be stood there for 10-15 seconds with no enemies appearing at all. Some music would have been nice and also being able to trash some of the background would have been a nice touch (chopping trees down ,bullet holes in walls maybe even burnt out tanks after you've destroyed them etc). But overall not a bad little shooter although too easy.

That's one thing I forgot to mention, the points of the game where no enemies appear at all. Very odd, I didn't get why they programmed it like that. I remember sitting there and thinking, okay, now what.

I had a quick blast this morning and got all the way to level 5-2 before dying, with a score of 86,400 although this was on easy setting. Another annoying thing with this game is you can't build up your lives, that would have made it better or even start each new level fresh with 3 hits again or an invicibility power up.I've played it 5 or 6 times now and may try to go through it all on easy without using a continue but i have no chance on difficult,it hasn't got much longevity to it, definately just a game to play 2p to get the most fun out of it.I'm counting the days until the GOTW : 5.

Hmm, I can't seem to properly get to grips with this one. It feels sluggish and there's not much inclination to keep at it. I'll keep pugging away to see if something clicks, but so far it just feels like Dynamite Duke's poorer brother...

Dynamite Duke is quite awesome compared to this, but still, it rules.
