Okie dokes, this is me....
Seeing as I've always been a lurker and have had a 19-month period of not posting a thing(!!!!) I thought I should do the decent thing and say 'ello again officially. As I say, I've been lurking on these excellent forum message boards since December 2003 so, umm... hello and here is some blurb I've posted elsewhere online. It's still all true. More or less!
Basically I'm into loads of stuff, like to hang out with my mates, love to have fun and when I'm not being an active fundraising member of the Browncoat Community (Firefly/Serenity TV fans) - I work bloody hard at an advertising and creative design agency in the South West of the UK.
My potted gaming heritage (since 1984-ish):
20p Cornish arcades, Grandstand, Acorn Electron, BBC, Sega Mastersystem, Megadrive, Gameboy, PS1, N64, PS2, DSLite, Wii Outside of the official launch days over the years I've also gotten hold of Atari2600, Jaguar, Spectrum 48k and my all time fave - Sega Dreamcast (sorry - it beats the SMS but I still love Sega!)
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Yup - there's not much room in our house, my missus hated it all and banned it to a large spare room which is now the 'Geek Room'... until the recent arrival of his'n'hers DSLites and the Wii. Yep, she now plays games more than me, albeit slightly different ones! Still trying to get her onto real old school, but not yet.
I've always loved the world of Sega Master System and it's very special but for me, the Dreamcast is easily the most underrated console going - a load of games are still better than the PS2 ones now IMHO! It will be the main rival for my time now with the (sorry) Nintendo Wii , DSLite and the Virtual Console 'replacing' the N64 - another classic piece of kit to prove I'm not a total SEGA Fanboy! Although the original SMS system is still a much better design than most of those in my opinion.
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Finally, to get back on topic here are a few Sega Master System related facts about me:
First game played:
Transbot and Alex Kidd Miracle World on same day
First game bought:
Basketball Knightmare
Fave games played recently:
Phantasy Star
Basketball Knightmare
Xenon
California Games
Indiana Jones (I still find it rock hard)
Best SMS moment:
Using Great Football and my local library for 2 days straight to help me prepare and win the Megadrive John Madden Football competition in Sega Power UK magazine.
Most treasured SMS possession:
I've got nowhere near the stuff some of you guys have, but I reckon I'd have to say my SMS-related magazines that are in near mint condition and have some great articles and features from back in the Master System's heyday. Maybe I should scan some for the forum when I get chance....
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Anyhow, I've wittered on enough. Just wanted to say I love reading all the messages and discussions and hope I can try to interact a bit more into this awesome community. Game On!
Take it easy.
Steve
