1st of all: Hi guys. I decided to register here because it seems like a fun forum to hang out. I'm 20 y/o and from Holland. I got my 1st SMS2 about a week ago and it's nice to have that old controller back in my hands again, we used to go to Luxembourgh about 10 years ago and me + my younger brother played the SMS at a friend's caravan all day I posted this in this forum (wants & trades) because I just found a SMS 1 and 7 games for 10€ on a fleamarket. I know it's a nice deal but I would like to know just how much this Master System 1 is worth

Depending on the condition (not just that it works and how clean it looks, but whether the card slot is working fine, there's no rattling bits, etc) I'd easily pay around £25 for a mint power base with the box and stuff - without any games other than whatever's built in. I guess at this fleamarket the console is loose, so I'd say if it's in good condition it would be worth around £10 (I think that's about 15 euros?). You can always find it cheaper, but I think that's a fair price. Your deal sounds pretty sweet to me

It's in pretty good shape, apart from some scratches. The games that came along with it are Shinobi (!! ) Thunder blade, G-loc, Rescue mission, shadow dancer, world grand prix and laser ghost. Which games do you guys think are the best? And are there by any chance a few rare ones between them

No real rarities, but that's a nice selection, especially for the price. You'll need to pick up a light phaser for Rescue Mission and Laser Ghost, though. Welcome back to the land of 8 bits

It doesn't seem to play carts :/ All I get is the built-in game hang on. Is there some way to get it to play the cart that's inside that I have forgotten about (probably not) or is it just broken (probably)

A thorough cleaning of your carts and the cart slot is probably in order.

How to best clean them? I dont want to end up killing my cart and/or console. My SMS 2 seemed to play them, but not always. Sometimes it starts alex kidd in miracle world and sometimes it says software error, and sometimes it plays them BTW it's hardly a comeback to the rousing world of 8-bit to me because I've been collecting NES stuff for ages (don't shoot me plz ) and have lots of atari 2600 stuff too

'Q-tips' (or cotton-buds this side of the Atlantic) dipped in rubbing alcohol/isopropynol (the kind of stuff you use in a video head cleaner) should do the trick. Give the contacts a thorough scrubbing and let them dry before plugging back in. You can clean the cart slot aswell by wrapping a thin cloth around a credit card & dipping that in the alcohol before carefully sliding it into the cart slot.
